So recent report from the Athletic is chelsea have had the most injuries of any Premier league team across the last 3 seasons.

2022/23: 48
23/24: 54 (so far).

This seasons numbers:

2023/24 Total Injuries and games missed due to those injuries*:

1.) chelsea 54 | 309
2.) Newcastle 38 | 258
3.) Brentford: 21 | 255
4.) Man utd 35| 233
5.) Liverpool 34 | 221

So firstly, wtf is going on? Are we just unlucky? This has been across several coaches so it's hard to blame the manager. We have also changed basically our whole team and whole medical team

Are we just cursed?

But more importantly, does this kind of justify where we are? A squad of 30, similar to man utd, brentford, liverpool etc and thats including 4 keepers and malang sarr whos been on the beach all year.

Having a subs bench of reserve and youth players most the season, still getting to a cup semi and cup final have we actually done pretty well?

The headlines are usually around the money spent on players but whats the point in spending the money if those players can never get on the pitch?!

It's been a frustrating season, and the injuries will rarely, if ever get mentioned by the press, but has Poch actually done a really good job considering?

Cole Palmer saved our season tbh. He's the man who should get most credit.

True. Hate to think where we’d be without him. Probably 14th

A massive factor. In general this PL season seems to have had more injuries for all clubs.

For us I definitely think Poch deserves some allowances for the injuries. Chilwell, James, Nkunku have spent significant time out that would be part of his first XI almost certainly. And the incremental impact of the rest of the players coming in and out, and our terrible bench. Someone made a good point on the Haven it’s no surprise finally as our bench started to resemble a normal bench we managed to make better subs to help turn the game against Forest.

Every team suffers injuries but this year we have been unable to play our best eleven at any point during the season. We have had no settled back line which is of course the foundation of any team. In midfield, Caicedo, #nzo and L'àvia have all had extended periods out at some point in time. New players being bedded into a team which has never had any consistency of selection. Palmer and Gallagher have pulled us through and them players such as Gusto settled in quite quickly. It has certainly affected us
