Lawrence Shankland has been named Scottish Football Writers' Association player of the year.
The Heart of Midlothian talisman - who bagged his 30th goal of the season against St Mirren - has received recognition after a seriously impressive campaign.
Shankland, 28, has collected a clean sweep of awards this term with the SFWA gong following the PFA Scotland player of the year, cinch Premiership player of the year, Hearts Players' player of the year and Hearts fans' player of the year titles.
SFWA president Chick Young said: “As ever the organisation which invented the player of the year concept in this country has got it spot on again.
“I confess to personal delight that the spotlight has moved from the Old Firm but in any case no one can argue that Lawrence Shankland is not a worthy winner.

Beales creative use of Twitter suggests HE Started the “brains behind Gerrard” myth.
Beale put the cones out for SG. Nothing more.

Nope - Gerrard started it and carried it on even if Beale is also a self-publicist

Indeed. He can add this award to the collection of pie eating trophies he’s won this season.

Clement believes "the foundations" of his squad "are not good enough to play at high intensity three games a week" and suggested: "That's one of the reasons for so many injuries."
"We have a month of August with nine games," he explained. "Two qualifying rounds for Champions League and five [Premiership] games. A really, really tough start. I did it before with Brugge.

I think he's saying it wasn't Beale's fault?

Interesting, that despite an apparently small gap, a rebuild is required. Surely only a few tweaks and key signings? Assuming we will stand still? Ok, last comment is tongue in cheek, you never know with our board.
I've been clear I didn't want Rodgers back, but if he's staying, he surely has to be properly backed?

A rebuild is required because we need to move forward.
6 players are out of contract, we have 3 loan players in the building as it is and guys like Lammers, Cifuentes etc out on loan.
Plus there are other players who simply aren’t getting any younger or the manager will maybe think he can upgrade them.
It’s just a fact that we have been injury ravaged all season. And despite that he’s taken a team he inherited that was on track to finish 20+ points behind Celtic and taken the league till the second last game.
That’s enough for him to be backed imo.
And he’ll either be top of the league or packing up to go back to Belgium by Christmas

Evolution. Every team does it. We went backwards last summer

Also Joe Hart's last interview.
I knew he was dour & gruff but you can still see his passion.
A smart & articulate guy for a footballer but many goalies are.
