I know he’s not the most popular player ever but my good friend Wayne Rooney has just said that he’s the player we should build a side around. I tend to agree and whilst the whole ‘building a side around a player’ concept isn’t without its pitfalls I do think with the right players brought in it would work. He’s given us his best years so we owe him a competitive side to play in. Put two disciplined CMs behind him and he’ll be free to play his risk/reward game with less issues we’ve faced this season.
With these 4 signings I feel we could become a much better team (not competing for the title just yet of course but more solid and less porous which is a start at least)

Branthwaite is a lefty so no way he partners Martinez.
Also AWB is a starter? FFS

He’s very two footed and has played on the right side of defence I’ve read.
Given we need at least two centre backs, it wouldn’t be a bad decision to invest in someone like him but also get a right sided cb that is more experienced, especially given we can’t predict whether Martinez will continue getting injuries or not.

And Hansen famously said you can't win anything with Kids, you simply can but we may never see another group like the class of 92 come up together into first team football and be a resounding success ever again. You never know with the current U18s though but very unlikely.

You still need some experienced old heads in the team to guide amd mentor the kids. 92Class has the likes of Robson, Schmeichel, Bruce, Eric, Hughsie, Parker etc.

I get the impression that we’ll be looking at signing younger players that can develop into top players. But I hope we don’t go too far with that like Chelsea and neglect the need for experience in the team. It’s one of the reasons Chelsea have been so shiiiiiit.

I'll ask you, What exactly do you think is coming in that you can bet your life will be better than Mainoo. The last 3 years show that we have a track record to find oine next year? Or a manager than can get the best out of them?

Mainoo produces in moments, he's yet to find consistency, which is expected as he's a young lad. He disappears in large parts which is something we need to understand, it could be it's easy to disappear in this "team" currently because the standards are so low.
Next season Mainoo needs to be rotated regularly, he should be playing far less than he has been. We need more competition for places.

I think we’re all united in wishing Fred had stayed. Another poor decision by Ten Hag to let him go and not feel wanted. Imagine what that Mount money could have gone towards

Every single young player (tbh every single player) needs rotation but it needs to be rotated with someone who is as good or even better. But like I said, who do we have better?
No teenager is going to save us. If that's what you are looking for i'm sorry you will be disappointed. But they can help us and if you give them a chance surpass all those foolish signings we've been making, i'll be happy. But play them. Don't sign a foolishly expensive player then spend years trying to prove they are a good signing while dismissing all the youngsters playing at their level.
