Relegates Burnley and is on the verge of getting the Bayern Munich job.
Where on earth does he get this level of clout from? Is he suffering from Lampard syndrome, where because he was a great player, clubs assume he’s a great manager?

He didn't get Burnley relegated.
That honour belongs to the board, game
players, and some bad luck.

And also largely down to the manager and how he decided to set up, don't think there was much bad luck. The board gave Kompany around £100m to spend in the summer.

To give a counter example: Frank Rijkaard relegated with Sparta, first time in club history even if iirc, but got hired straight away by Barcelona. The results and especially the style of football are history...
Bayern top brass probably see something in his football and man management that can be transplanted into a team with more quality (and diva's) pretty well.

I just read the exact same comment in Dutch on Nu.nl
Are you that guy?

Out of curiosity, where are all the rumours about Kompany originating? I just read about the rumours on the Beeb website, but they don't quote any sources.

There is an article on the Dutch news site nu.nl saying that Bayern have basically agreed terms with Kompany and are now talking to the club to get him released. And that website won't post any unverified rumours.

Nah, NU.nl comment section was/is a sh1tshow when they first introduced it, so I steered way clear from that. But if you're not a WUM it's one the first examples that would come to mind when not to write off relegated coaches or foreign competition 'reject players' (Henry, Bergkamp, Forlan, etc).

I admit I know little about them. But I lived there once and had a golfing partner who was a big fan. We keep in touch and it's his viewpoint not mine.

Me neither, but from I’ve read and the little I have seen it did seem Kompany was very naive to go into this season thinking he could play the same way as when they won the Championship. Maybe Bayern feel he has the right qualities needed, but comes off more like them being desperate. Time will tell I guess.
