We lost 1-0 at home to Iceland, so what? Well the naysayers and never believers will tell you that England can’t win this tournament and will hang a lot on that one result.
But should we be worried us believers? I don’t think so. I have delved through the archives and found other examples of sides who were humbled before going on to make the final and in some cases winning it.
1990 - who can forget Roger Milla dancing as Cameroon beat defending champions Argentina 1-0 in their opening group game. Cameroon were humbled by England in the quarters whilst Argentina succumbed to a late German penalty in the final
1992 - Denmark fail to qualify, Yugoslavia pull out, Denmark cut their holiday short, John Jensen scores causing the Germans right then and there to realise it wasn’t going to be their day.
1994 - Italy lose to the Irish in the group stage, make the final and lose only to a penalty shootout
Euro 96 - The Czechs lose the opening group game to Germany and then need an 88th minute equaliser in the final group game to scrape through the group. They made the final - losing to a golden goal from Bierhoff.
France 98 - Brazil only beat Scotland by 2 goals in the opening game, despite this set back they still made the World Cup final.
2004 - Portugal lose to Greece, make the final and then lose to Greece again
2010 - Spain lose to the Swiss then bore everyone to death whilst winning the World Cup, inventing defensive possession in the process or tiki taka as they like to call it
2012 - Italy draw their first 2 group games but still make the final - where they were utterly humiliated by a rampant Spain.
2016 - Portugal draw all 3 group games, scrape through in third, win only 1 game inside 90 mins against the Welsh and then pull off a massive shock in the final.
So the game is littered with these examples. We have a lot of match winners, Kane and Bellingham walk into any starting line up at this comp. Foden and Saka are top level and we have subs in those areas that would start for all but the top 3 or 4 sides.
We just need to believe

I lived in Scotland for 2 years.
Not long after i moved there i went to the pub to watch Howard Wilkinson'sEngland vs France, friendly in the days of Anelka & ZZ.
To my surprise the pub was packed and it soon became clear it was nearly all Scots. When France scored the opener, the place erupted!
Ever since, my view has always been feck'em!

wonder if he'd prefer England to lose the semis, as long as Germany didn't win the final?, whilst that seems odd, he did want his team spurs to lose to City, purely to hinder another teams success, despite them being no where near them in the league.
