Liverpool + Man Utd actively pursuing deal to sign Leny Yoro from Lille. #LFC & #MUFC see Real Madrid as favourites but pushing hard for 18yo centre-back - viewed as unique market opportunity separate to other targets.

Anyone know much about this lad? And are we gonna get Varaneβd again by Real?
Leny Yoro

Bloodred
True but I doubt we plan to spend big on both. Maybe big on one and a more sensible low figure for the other. We need a few areas to fix this summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It depends on what the club think are recruitment priorities, though.
We’ve been accustomed to the manager having preferences on certain things, however, we may have to reassess that now that things have changed with the recruitment structure.
bloodred made a point a few weeks ago about how a new manager may not want Martinez as our main cb due to his aerial ability. Just because ETH likes him, doesn’t mean that we wouldn’t look to build a back four that doesn’t include him as a guaranteed starter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What???
You think the club would tell the manager who to select?
You guys are nuts π
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How is that in any way what he said?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you think they would buy defenders but not expect the manager to pick them

BBC saying Everton want a package worth 80m. π
We can't keep playing this game. It never ends well for us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
80m is way too much anyway

Maybe the Yoro bid is a bluff. If he’s as good as people say and Real want him then he’s theirs. Could scare Everton into agreeing to a lower price?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We need 2 CBs tbh...Everton probably know that too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t believe for one second that that club thinks we need 2 CB, Fans might want 2 CBs, but the clubs view will more likely be that they’ve got Maguire, Martinez, Lindelof, Kambwala and Evans, so it’s a Varane replacement to start alongside Martinez that’s the priority.
It’s fantasy football to think we will be pursuing 2 CB acquisitions this summer.

There won’t be two signings to add to the five we have at the club, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a partner brought in for Martinez and a second young, cheaper option brought in with one or two of the senior CBs (Maguire, Lindelof) leaving.
I’m not saying that’s more likely than just the one CB. Just a possibility.
If there’s one unbreakable rule in football, it’s that United fans always expect more movement in the summer window (particularly outgoings) than happens. There’s strong evidence to suggest that this summer won’t be any different considering both the fact that we don’t have a permanent CEO, DoF or head of transfers through the door yet and the finances.

It's about 40m too much. He's not even ahead of Guehi, Konsa, Maguire, Dunk and Gomez. π
He's got talent but that's all at this stage. He's very far from being an 80m player.

Hardly, it’s not exactly fantasy to think at least one of those will leave the club.

Lindelof could easily go imo.
Kwambala was only drafted into the first team because we had 6 other injuries and he was partnering a CM half the time. He might not be in the long term thoughts.
There’s no guessing our transfer strategy at this point, half our transfer team/sporting team haven’t even signed yet
