Jean-Clair Todibo

Fabrizio Romano @FabrizioRomano
EXCL: Jean-Clair Todibo deal for Man United is currently off and highly unlikely due to UEFA rules.

Talks were advanced with all parties keen for months but Nice and Man Utd with same ownership playing same European competition next season means no green light.

Looks like qualifying for the Europa has hindered us buying this lad, anyone gutted or can we attract better? I’ve never seen him play tbh

If we can get £120 million for Greenwood, Casemiro and Maguire then our transfer fund should be at least half decent (that’s on the assumption we can get £60 million or so from a Saudi club for Casemiro)

Ps, I’m not saying I necessarily want us to sell Maguire as he’s not that bad but I wonder if Ten Hag even wants him

Now that Dortmund aren’t getting the Chelsea lad could we persuade them to go for Sancho? I’m guessing the wages are the stumbling block.

We're bidding for Branthwaite, so Todibo is rather seen as a alternative. With a good alternative gone, our hand is weaker in the transfer game against Everton

“They’ve said we can sell him to another Premiership club, but we can’t sell to Manchester United.

"But that’s not fair on the player and I don’t see what that achieves."

I struggle to believe that this was a surprise to INEOS. They must have studied the rules.

With my cynic hat on.

Openly court him and the player wants the move and go nowhere else. That essentially makes his 'market value' what Nice and United are willing to deal on. I think I read somewhere that one of the issues would be if other clubs were interested and create a bidding war of sorts.

Just seen on X someone mention that it's European football he couldn't play and that he'd be able to play in the Premier League.
