It's official now, Cooper.

At last after a never-ending merry go round Cooper is appointed on a three year contract.
Really hope it works out for him, wanted Potter but it seems his heart was not really in it.
Let's hope this is first step on getting our club back on a stable footing.
But with our board I am not really confident.
Good luck to him.

That’s exactly the point Mersey. Ambition doesn’t mean reckless gambling - like the summer of 2021 when we explicably pulled away from the model that had worked under Vichai for years and decided we could go toe to toe with the big boys.

No one would have blamed the owners for selling Tielemans that summer for £50m or so. There was no criticism when we sold Chilwell for £60m. The criticism has come from the appalling running of the club since that point. And it’s certainly not all about that summer - it continued and has got worse under Top - not better

I think the desperate hope you’ve always clung on to is that the club are learning and rebuilding. They are not. If they were we wouldn’t have Rudkin as DoF and Top wouldn’t still be spinning the roulette wheel on managers. From Potter to Cooper in 24 hours is utterly insane - you literally couldn’t get any different

What we have here is a basket case of a football club that has made so many mistakes that it’s now going to take years to fix. Years in the championship - because this season is the final hurrah for PL for years to come.

99 ,you mentioned about our chairman gambling with decisions.
I think the important word there is gambling.
Wonder if he is more interested in king power horses than he is with king power club.
Is it that he spends too much time with lets say leisure interests out side of our club, and has not concentrated
on what should be his main focus and has let others have too much power and influence.?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah it does make you wonder. Jon Rudkin also has a lot of fingers in a lot of pies across the King Power group, particularly the horse racing apparently. If that’s the case then it’s easy to see why they were both asleep at the wheel during that final season under Rodgers

For me Top needs to either commit fully to this club and that includes engaging with the fan base on what the vision and direction actually is, and how he intends to achieve it, or he needs to sell up and go. I’d rather the latter because I don’t think he has the ability to put out the fires he so recklessly started

I always have hope that we can scrape enough points to survive this season 99, but it’s going to be a tough ask and I agree with a lot of what you say.

We should not have gambled on European football to cover the finances when FFP regulations meant it would tie the club in knots when our income fell like it did.

We are a mess you’re right and it’s going to take a while to fix. I still want to give Top the time to rectify the mistakes. I’m still extremely concerned by Rudkin leading the football side of our club and I think that Top is showing weakness in not identifying a successor to him, but we’re so hamstrung by FFP now any change in ownership wouldn’t fix the money side and for me, the playing side isn’t totally broken.

We got back up first time of asking and the players and staff still seem to be calling our club special. So I think there’s a lot more right than wrong. I agree that there is a big thing wrong in Rudkin though!

By the way on an unrelated note - and yet more evidence for Mersey that there is actually more wrong than right - with every other club under PSR pressure manoeuvring in the transfer window to comply with this years FFP - Leicester appear more than happy to take a second breach and do nothing in terms of selling players ahead of 30th June deadline

EFL have effectively told us we need to sell to comply. So what do we do? Oh yeah - we’re gonna gamble.
We’re going to hold on to KDH and offer a new deal to Ndidi and take a bet on surviving to avoid penalties from the EFL.

How stupid are we? We need to sell players to avoid more sanctions. Yeah I’d agree it’s a special club Mersey but not for the reasons you’re suggesting

All this is doing is adding to the growing list of evidence you can put under the column of ‘not learning lessons’ . It’s a list I’m compiling for Mersey which I’m going to print on a banner and arrange for a pilot to fly it over his house on repeat for 3 weeks

There may be some perverse logic in their present antics, either possibly gambling on staying up, or under the deluded notion that we're going to. If so, then the punishment in the following season for breaches is, if I understand correctly, to be fines etc rather than points deductions.

Of course that doesn't count for much if we drop back down to the welcoming arms of the EFL, who will no doubt be positively slavering at the thought of imposing some massive punishment on us.

I have some sympathy with your giving Top yet another chance Mersey, but the omens are not good - Rudders is somehow still in place, presumably having redeemed himself in the eyes of the management with last season's success

Pressed send before I finished!

Mersey - exactly what would it take for you to lose faith completely in Top? You're already part way there at least given what you've said about him showing weakness in regard to Rudkin - something that doesn't look like correcting itself any time soon.

Would love to see a response to that question myself!

I see there’s been no response to this question yet 😂

Hey Nuneaton. Sorry for the delay.

I think it would be blind backing of Rudkin after 1-2 managers came out and criticised him. Along with a failed or poor transfer window or two. Potentially looking like he’d lost interest in the club or wasn’t investing in the long term future. It would be good to know where we are with the stadium expansion plans and what Top is looking at for a 5 year plan currently. I’m with everyone when we’re all feeling a bit frustrated with the lack of communication.

Bad mistakes have been made but I can see us trying to correct them and get back to the model that was so successful prior to Rodgers’ ego.

I just don’t know what more a new owner could do other than restructure the finances and try to play FFP a bit better?
