Well something has to change in our attack at this stage, that goes without saying.

Southgate has tried all of Trent, Gallagher and Mainoo in that CM role in the group, so there has been some dice rolling. Mainoo has looked the best by far in my opinion.

The defence has held up well, much better than people feared - Guehi has been outstanding and Stones oozes class. Walker gives us thrust down the right. Defensively and attackingly Trippier is horrible in the left back position - if Shaw isn’t playing on Sunday then Southgate needs to explain why he brought a player who was never going to be fit for these Euros and then didn’t cover for him with another proper left back - do we need Wharton?

My concern with the Dutch is Weghorst - They will bang it up to him and then play off it. Stones will need a man of the match performance to deal with it, I remember the carnage Weghorst created against Argentina in the World Cup - they only lost that game on pens in the end.

If it’s Slovakia we play then it will be the same as the Group stage - England spending 90/120 mins trying to break through a stubborn low block side
