The next England manager?

This is surely Southgate's last tournament. We'll hopefully only have a couple more weeks of his cowardly and clueless management.

But who do we think gets the job next? The favourites are Potter, Howe and Poch.

Not exactly the cream of the crop.

Why doesn't England produce elite managers? Even Scotland has historically produced better managers than England.

I reckon it'll be Eddie Howe.

He's been at Newcastle for (almost) 3 years and the last season was a relatively disappointing one compared to the promise of yr1 and the progression of yr2.

Add in the alleged FFP issues meaning he may have to sell players or at least sell to buy; I think his stock may have peaked at Newcastle and the opportunity to take this generation of talent to a WC would be attractive.

There's not being a mockery but in a sport remembered for flair, style & excitement it's not very inspiring.

Brazil 70
Netherlands 74
Argentina 86

OK I picked WC teams but iconic stuff and right now it is tough to see England get close in those stakes. That said, France might have peaked, Spain have a chance if Yamal does some more crazy sh.t and right now Ragnick has Austria firing...still time.

Spain were dull as dishwater in 2010, Portugal were just bad mostly in 2016, Greece made your eyes bleed in 04.

I would happily trade being called boring if we won it - just get it done and let the critics say whatever they want.

I said it on another thread, the Euros loves a shock winner every now and again - Austria look dangerous. I am happier playing the Netherlands over Austrianthats for sure, they would kill this lethargic England side with their press at the moment.

I dont think anyone will complain if we bore our way to the title.

Problem is that our boring style is only just delivering the results. We were lucky to top the group as it was out of our hands when we drew the last game .

I think peoples frustration is that they lack faith that England playing this way can win because we have barely created 2 good chances a game against opposition with limited attacking threat.

Said this myself yesterday. I think he’d be a great fit for our squad.

Can anyone think of a single international manager that they’d want managing their club?

I count one in Naglesmann and that’s up for debate.

Yes. Plus, as others have said Bielsa.

And Rangnick. Showed what he can do with
players who have brains between their ears.
Top manager.

Why is Pep in at 16/1...even if he were to leave City what on earth makes people think he'd want to manage our team...he's a proven winner

Give it to Potter. He's about the best we can do right now for English managers. Poch, Pep and Klopp should be nowhere near it. I don't think a foreign manager should be managing us and getting someone as good as Pep to help us out just feels like cheating. The FA should be figuring out ways to produce better English managers not trying to paper over cracks with foreign ones.
