Absoooooooooolutely miles worse on commentary, I have to say

McCoist isnt the most insightful, but you get the sense that he is delighted and feels privileged to be commentating. There are some miserable ones out there e.g., Dixon/Murphy who seem to have spent too much time listening to Lawrenson.

You get the impression Lee Dixon commentates with a permanent Jack Dee expression on his face

This. I can't stand the unimpressed tone they transmit. Not just the lack of energy, but the self-regarding, knowing aspect of it.

I don't mind McCoist.

Lee Dixon would make a 5-5 draw sound boring.
