So what happens now?

Well it's the morning after the night before and we've failed to raise the required amount through player sales to satisfy PSR.

I am assuming the rush to offload Archie and Charlie were triggered by the need to raise the cash by the 30th June deadline.

As far as I am aware, only Roca has left the club. No matter what happens with Gray and Cresswell and others in the window I assume the deadline has passed.

So what happens now, are we facing a transfer embargo or points deduction or maybe even both?

Well it looks like we’ve got Rodon and cleared £30m on Archie.

I’m not happy with selling him but if he was the only saleable asset at this point in time then it had to happen.

I was saying in the pub last night that he will be in the England midfield for the World Cup. That’s how good he is!

or a reflection of just how poor England were last night?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope - just how good Archie is. He could play the Rice roll with ease - and Rice was pretty solid last night.

O'Hare from Coventry would give us a lot more creativity in midfield if we can get him, not sure Skipp will happen but if it does he'll presumably take the place of Gruev who is strongly linked with a move abroad and with Ampedu free to resume his midfield duties and young Crew coming through the ranks that I imagine will be our engine room next season unless Kamara also leaves and someone else we haven't heard about joins

I'm hoping we will be better equipped this season in
midfield if we do sign our supposed targets plus the possible return of Wober and Kristenson who at
Championship level I think would be an asset and the
same goes for Aeronson, the return of Rodon and keeping Rutter and James gives me at least optimistic vibes that we're going to be right up there and that's before we know if Summerville stays or not or what new offensive signings we make.

Archie's sale apart from seemingly balancing the books has probably also enabled the club to strengthened the team sufficiently to get promoted. Some will disagree but ultimately only time will tell.

So, it seems whoever negotiated Archie’s contract must have insisted on a £40m release clause being inserted.

Villa, Brentford and Spurs triggered it and Archie is now a Spurs player bar the shouting.

Had he wanted to stay at Leeds I’m sure he could have said no to the move and his family and advisors would have backed him all the way. However it seems he is happy to further his career and try his hand in the PL.

Modern day football I’m afraid - he’s Leeds to the core but that doesn’t mean he wants to stay with us in the Championship. Loyalty can only go so far and of course he will know that the owners have no real loyalty to him or any of the players.

Good luck Archie! Go smash the PL.

Agree with Stoopo.

As long as Archie's happy to go to Spurs,
everything else helps us immensely.

How many beers had you had

Independent - Declan Rice – 5: Tried more than once to play the decisive pass, clipping balls over the Slovakia defence, but always struggled to pick out his man. Did win the ball in handy positions, now and then. Hit the post with a long-range shot in the final 10 minutes.

The Guardian - Declan Rice (CM) Faced with too many runners. Struggled in possession, hit post. Better when England led 2-1. 5

Goal - Declan Rice (4/10):

Not brave enough with the ball. Came close to equalising with a thumping effort off the post.

Sky Sports Declan Rice - 6

Crunching challenge on Juraj Kucka midway through the first half was needed to sharpen England. It didn't enliven his team-mates, and Rice was partially at fault for Schranz's strike as he became a bystander in not reacting quick enough to the second ball. Hit the post with a fierce drive in agonising fashion before the late drama and was disciplined throughout extra time.

Metro Declan Rice – 4
England’s midfield lacked control yet again and Arsenal’s record signing must shoulder some of the blame. Has looked a shadow of the player who almost helped the Gunners win the Premier League last season, though he did come close with a long-range striker that hit the post.

In a poor England performance, when we scraped through and Slovakia can count themselves very unlucky, I wonder what you were watching?

I had the benefit of not watching it in the pub I suppose and though I did have a few beers, I remained sober throughout and wasn't caught up in the atmosphere that a pub brings. You analyse things differently when you watch things in your living room.

Is Skipp just paper talk?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Heard from someone who apparently knows Skipp’s agent that the deal is basically done. That was a week or two ago.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Skipps a good player and made loads of appearances for us - very similar to Harry Winks but more tenacious in the tackle.

His weakness as a midfielder is that he can’t progress the ball, create chances or score goals, he is very much a defensive midfielder that wins it and makes a short pass.

Both he and Winks are easily good enough for lower half Prem sides - but Leicester and Leeds are fine clubs and bigger than the likes of Bournemouth, so I can see the appeal of helping you guys win the Champ and becoming integral to the side. Winks just wanted to play regularly and that will be Skipps mindset also I would imagine
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That was a huge reason why we didn't get promoted last season though. A lack of players that could progress the ball effectively. Meant that we could tear teams apart that were open but struggled to break down organised teams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough, I can only tell you what sort of player he is - if someone didn’t know already.

I think he would be right up there as one of the best DM’s if not the best DM in the Champ - he has Connor Gallagher levels of fitness and tenacity.

I mean the guy has played regular Champions league football and been picked by the likes of Poch and Conte - you would be getting a solid player

Skipp and Ampadu would be solid. Really solid.

Apparently Rennes are sniffing around Kamara.

I'd think he knows more about the problems around the club than anyone here, and after talks he might have agreed to it to help the club he loves to get back on track!..

Mind, we had another player that did that and got the crap kicked out of him around the world of the internet, something I don't think will happen to Archie!..
