Dan Ashworth v Paul Mitchell is the new Gerrard v Lampard on Twitter it would seem.

Was the rumour that we were interested in bringing in Mitchell as a head of recruitment rather than a sporting director, but that he wasn't interested in the less senior role?

Tbf City don’t seem to get in the way when a player wants to move on. I know Ortega isn’t bad but doesn’t offer the same attributes as Ederson, will be hard to replace. Sounds like KdB will be off there in a year or so too as will a few others when Pep leaves I imagine.

A bit off topic, but Ederson is in talks with the Saudi league. I’m surprised City are happy to sanction this

Their back up keeper is just as good tbf. £50-60m to the transfer kitty too.

They will lose Ortega this summer if Ederson stays. Seems like a good deal to me for City to cash in.

Don't tell the barcodes they have just hired a United fan. 😂

Ortega is as good a shot stopper and other attributes but not at the level of Ederson for build up play. Although not many are tbf.

Edwards is Messi

Tbf that single league title in 34 years is probably down to him. Fair play. 👍

This report suggests that Mitchell will have a narrower role, more focused on recruitment, than Ashworth had at Newcastle, which supports the supposition that United didn't want him for the top job. https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/jul/04/newcastle-united-appoint-paul-mitchell-sporting-director-dan-ashworth-exit-football

United have confirmed the appointment of Christopher Vivell as 'director of global talent', initially as a temporary role but supposedly with a view to making it permanent. I guess this was the kind of role they were floating for Mitchell.
