I would suggest that the sell-out at Hampden last month and the 15,000 in Spain tonight kind of go against the idea that we're suddenly a nation of cynics with no national pride.

The only cynicism I've come across towards our national team has been from a small number of Old Firm fans posting on these boards.

Hobo, You are a typical example of what i was talking about, We as a nation created the modern world as we know it , This could only be done by Scots leaving home and now the sons and grandsons of these people are to be denied their chance to represent their spiritual home? As long as they are wearing the dark blue of Scotland with pride we should all be behind them 100%

As for people complaining about guys with scottish grannies pulling on the shirt these days.......there's guys out there that were born and bred in this country that dont appear to want to represent or support the national team....if have a much bigger problem with them than some guy thats actually proud to give his all and represent the country his relatives were born in but he wasnt!!!

Get behind the team the lot of ye's.....if yer a fan of a Scottish Football team...ANY Scottish Football team, the national team doing well is a good thing for your club, so get behind them!!!

Colin - sorry for not mindlessly clapping anything just because it's got a saltire on it. I'd say your attitude is far more harmful - refusing to acknowledge problems and injusticies just because of patriotism.

I wouldn't mind if it's people that genuinely want to play for Scotland, but the likes of Morrison, Commons, Bardsley, Gilks, Mackail-Smith and Mackie are only there because they can't get a game for England, Gilks even said so himself and think it was Mackie that said it'd be good for his career. They don't have a proper connection to the country, so shouldn't be playing for it. Alexander and Fletcher I was perfectly happy about, as we were always first choice for them.

See that annoys me.

I was annoyed when I seen Bardsley getting a call up at first...but after watching him play, and seeing the determination, the passion and the fight that he's willing to put in, I dont care if he's only as Scottish as a tin a Heinz Scotch Broth, he's been called up and he has done his duty for his adopted country.

Give these guys a chance, if they are useless then speak out....dont drop your support for the ENTIRE cause due to it, thats just nonsense!!

Doing that is as bad as the legions of Rangers fans that cant stand the Tartan Army coz they upset oor Barry and oor Alan...and this is coming from a Rangers fans btw!!
