Rio Ferdinand

I like Rio, but he’s a crap pundit.

I am not sure what people were expecting from Rio as a pundit to be honest. They must have seen his post match interviews on TV when he was a player.

There's no real detail in what Rio says, just describes the moment and judges how good it was. Was startling seeing Fabregas next to him the other day, who seemed like a breath of fresh air.

Rooney seems like he's knowledgeable, but has the communication skills of an old man who's given up being a valued member of society. His managerial struggles make a lot of sense.

I don't mind him. He's not the best pundit, nor the worst, and the cheating on his wife thing seems a redundant stick to beat him with since most of them do it. At least he wasn't beating her up.

Jenas is actually alright, his only problem is he talks as if he's a multi premier league title winner.

Rooney’s always been like this on front of the camera. Hard to know what he’s like with players from a management point of view.

Jeans is as dull as dishwater

Not the brightest or the most articulate but that aside he can on occasions provide some insight into the art of defending. Not the worst pundit, not the best either but always prefer coverage when he's not on it!

Just watched Rio contributing very well to a discussion with Lampard analysing the failings of England in and out of possession. Perfectly articulate, picking out some telling details and dropping in the odd insight from playing experience. Again, I think much of the issue is that he doesn't look and sound like some people's idea of an intelligent person.

But he’s not an intelligent person. His accent and pronunciation doesn't even come into it, nor should it. He’s just not very bright or eloquent. He offers not a lot as far as I’m concerned.
