Calling England fans! Do you care...

A quick question for England fans on here. Do you care if the other nations of the UK get behind you for games such as tomorrow? Or, do you prefer it when they don't and you get to have the last laugh?

Now I know England are a kind of international version of a Spurs/Liverpool hybrid (thinking they're big when they win little, having their ex players as pundits spouting nonsense opinions, and being deluded in making everything about them) but does that bother you?

For the record I think it'll be a close game tomorrow and, for decent folk like Gareth Southgate, I'd not begrudge them a win. I do think Spain will edge it though and run out winners.

A quick guide for tomorrow...

Note to all who may be confused by the Prince of Wales supporting England.

Prince William is English.
He is President of the (English) FA.
He supports England.
So far so good. Makes perfect sense.

Here's where it may get confusing though.

Prince William, an Englishman, is also a non Welsh Prince of Wales.

He's the Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union. They're playing at the moment too. I wonder if he's watching or even knows? He does claim to support them though.
His wife, The Princess of Wales, has a similar role with English rugby.

Told you it was confusing!

It's not wrong William supporting England but if it irks you we'll sort it out and send you Prince Andrew

😂

You're hilarious, Piff!

What a ridiculous article!

Why should we bother if the other home nations are behind us?

The only time fans of other teams whether it be the national team or the club they support would get behind an opposing team would be the benefit of their team!

Are any of the home nations teams gonna benefit from England winning? No… so there you have it!

I always support the other home nations, but I’m not bitter if they don’t return it, it’s football it’s hardly important in the grand scheme. Had some cracking nights out with various folks from the other home nations and Irish so all good in my book. The banter is what makes it

I'm not English, but have had a bet on England from the start, so purely from that point of view I want them to win.
Generally speaking, the England footie team doesn't bother me that much if they were to win things etc - of course there would be the OTT media coverage (there would be that for any of the home nations I guess), I guess it's the fact that there has been this OTT coverage for so many years, whether they win or lose, which is more difficult to bear. If England had actually won a bit more previously, there prob would be a little bit less of the crazy hype etc.

I think we can all question some of Southgate's tactics - all managers make mistakes, and if he wins, then ultimately no-one will care, although that doesn't necessarily mean his decisions were all correct. And the team is completely behind him, which is probably more vital than anything else.

So I won't be exactly cheering them on, and it's usually good-natured bants from the other nations - when it gets a bit too personal, well no need for that.

It's strange, i follow most sports and whilst the footie team doesn't bother me, for some reason the rugby team really annoys me - I have a far stronger 'dislike' for them that the footie team

Just to add, Southgate as a person is very likeable - he's had to put up with a lot, and for him personally, I hope he does it. Still wouldn't convince me that he is a top manger though

Royalty has long been associated with White for Purity, Gold for Wealth; Purple, Violet, and Blue for Royalty and Piety.

I reckon it's just a colour thing.

Taking this analogy further Liverpool fans don't care if fans of TNS or Partick Thistle don't support us when we win the CL.
