Well done Licha

Copa America champion last night.

Now please, please, please stay fit this season.

Looks like there will be major changes at CB this summer.

Varane & Kwambwala gone, hopefully one of Lindelof or Maguire to follow.

Quite surprised to see Kwambwala leave, although admittedly I’ve not seen much of him at all, but when I did, he looked to have a bit about him.

He looked ok. I’m not sure he was rated as a great prospect and sort of broke through out of necessity rather than talent . We got a decent fee and a buy back clause so no complaints there.

He played all but one game for them I think which is a good sign - he's probably the one player in the squad who would have actually benefited from an international tournament, fitness-wise.

Wouldn't put it past him to drop again as soon as he rejoins us. But I've been hopeful his injuries for the past year have been largely bad luck - a metatarsal, a recurrence of that (probably through mismanagement), a bit of a freak knee injury and a muscle injury - which isn't a massive surprise when you've missed that much football.

Yes hopefully he can get over his injury issues.

It’s not a major trophy apparently. Well that’s according to some of our own fan base who hate Messi.

Strange because Messi was derided for failing to win a Copa America until he did. It was also a major trophy before he won it too.

Very odd.

I watched the game, Martinez was outstanding OP

I think he's regarded as a player with potentially a high ceiling but still needing quite a bit of development. Reportedly there's a big sell-on clause and a buy-back clause, so the risk of losing an outstanding talent is mitigated. Meanwhile some budget is freed up to spend on players for now.

Sounds like he was very good for Argentina and the pitches were terrible so glad he didn’t pick up any injuries. Hopefully he gets a nice break now and doesn’t take too long to be back to full fitness with the squad.

Think we saw Kwambwala last season simply because we had no one else rather than him impressing so much in the youth set up that he deserved game time with the first team. He was ok but I think this transfer deal is ideal for him and the club. He gets regular game time to help his development and if he improves a lot we can buy him back or get a nice sell on fee.

He will be like a new signing if he can stay fit all season. We missed him a lot.

They didn’t concede a goal with him on the pitch the whole tournament. Put some fantastic tackles in and crucial blocks in the big games for them.

If he’s fit and ready this season it makes such a difference for us in defence and in transition to attacks.
