Dumb things you've done

Was free and bored last Saturday so thought I'd go and watch a pre-season.

Was going to go Sittingbourne v Welling but worked out I'd have to get a cab from the station to the ground so scrapped that. Decided on Gillingham v Millwall.

Too late for a pre match lager so went to ground and watched probably the worst game of football I've seen since England last played. I counted 1 shot on goal. Only fun bit was watching a Millwall fan run across the pitch towards the home end (where i was) and give it the 'come on then' to the home fans before being escorted away. If you've seen the film Green Street then you'll know what i mean. Gills also gave a tubby lad dogs abuse in the Millwall end for having a 'pie in his pocket'

After match went to bar inside Gillingham's ground and found out that Millwall had smashed up all the toilets in the away end. I was a few ales in by this stage so ended up talking to these 3 blokes and slagged off Millwall's fans about this and their crappy reputation generally. After about 5 mins into this rant, the biggest one turned to me and said ' we are Millwall mate'. Got seriously edgy at this stage especially when one of them said he was an ABA champion at Light Middle.

Anyway, ended up having a laugh with them and a few beers in the away pub near the station.

What have you done football related or otherwise which you regret and could have ended up much worse?

Fun fact; I went to school and was close friends with the son of former Sittingbourne and Gillingham manager Steve Lovell (who also played for Wales Daifol). To add to this, they lived in the house that Steve Bruce lived in when he played for Gillingham. And I’ve held Steve Lovell’s golden boot that he won when he played for Gillingham.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I lived opposite Lovell 2 years ago. nice bloke.
i find it crazy though Gillingham have been referenced twice (now 3) on this thread.
Gillingham are massive! best away end in football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder if they were still in the same house. I forget the street name.
When I was about 12 me and a couple of mates used to get the train (well two trains) from Sheerness to Gillingham to watch games at Priestfield. Our parents had no idea!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I work on the island now (dare I say, unfortunately. best part of my day is driving over the bridge) he doesnt live there now, he moved a year before I eventually moved.
sheerness to melbourne though mate, some ascension. good for you
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Another fun fact about that neck of the woods. I was in Chatham the other day and this bloke was eating dog food with a spoon at a bus stop
----------------------------------------------------------------------
surely going to Chatham is another example of something Dumb you have done? some sights there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Holy shiiiit!

I was about to come on here and mention that my cousin was shaaaging Tony Eeles, Gillingham midfielder back in the day, but I've just heard something else that's floored me.

There's another islander on JA606. Not only that but a fellow Spurs fan.

I don't live there now as I'm in London but I grew up in Sheerness, most of my family still live there. My mum is still in the same house on Alma Road. Small world.

We used to go to Priesfield a lot as kids cos White Hart Lane back then was like another world. We needed somewhere closer to go. The Gills are still as shiiiit now as they were back then by all accounts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I used to live on Invicta Rd! Runs parallel to Alma if I remember correctly.

I've never lived on the island I'm afraid. Grew up in Maidstone and now live in the country on the ar$ehole of Rochester.

I do however work in one of the prisons on the island and been here a decade.

More to the island than what people say about it but glad i don't live there.

very similar when it comes to the Spurs and The Gills though. been completely outpriced watching Tottenham and find myself regularly suffering watching Gillingham.

it really is a small world though

Ok this is getting weird now. My Mum works in one of the prisons. Couldn’t tell you which one mind. She opens mail, listens in to phone calls etc.

I used to work on Sheppey but not in a prison...

But Melbourne knew this already.
