The Tour...

Pre-season kicks off next week in the USofA, facing off against Bournemouth in California on Thursday. The game kicks off at 330am UK time, and is followed by games with Manchester United and Liverpool.

ARSENAL’S US TOUR SQUAD
Goalkeepers: Karl Hein, Tommy Setford, Lucas Nygaard, Alexei Rojas

Defenders: Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jurrien Timber, Josh Nichols, Jakub Kiwior, Ayden Heaven, Omar Rekik

Midfielders: Thomas Partey, Jorginho, Michal Rosiak, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe, Fabio Vieira, Ethan Nwaneri, Salah–Eddine Oulad M’Hand, Jimi Gower

Forwards: Leandro Trossard, Reiss Nelson, Charles Sagoe Jr, Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah

While David Raya, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Aaron Ramsdale and William Saliba are not expected to reunite with the squad until they return to London, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Magalhaes and Kai Havertz will fly out next week to join ahead of the second and third US matches.

Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu are the notable absences, with Charlie Patino, Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Zane Monlouis, Khayon Edwards and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji the older academy players not going.

The 'keeper situation is interesting, with none of the 4 expected to be part of the senior squad. Hein could be looking to impress enough to get a loan, while the other 3 will try and catch the eye of the boss.
In defence, while we can field an experience back 4, Jakub Kiwior is still expected to move this summer. Ayden Heaven is the brightest prospect while Rekik is another not expected to stay at Arsenal. Josh Nichols is a full back who is comfortable either side.
Myles Lewis Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri are the highest rated and best known of the academy players and will hope to get a lot of exposure. MLS may even play inverted left back. Michael Rosiak is another adaptable player, can play full back but more often is in midfield. Jimi Gower can play in midfield or further forward, while Salah-Eddine has lots of loan experience - although that has been limited by injury.
Charles Sagoe jr made his senior debut in the league cup, but had a disappointing loan to Swansea in the second half of the season. With Nelson and Nketiah expected to leave, there could be some hope for Sagoe jr getting more senior minutes.

New signings could join the squad as it goes on, hopefully Riccardo Calafiori will be there ahead of the opener.

The BCD friendly with Leyton Orient had MLS and Heaven starting. Indication they are frontrunners for a place on the plane tomorrow?

Zinchenko and Kiwior were also pictured at the game, so very likely to be on the plane.

Sounds like Rosiak, Sagoe Jr, Jimi Gower, Salah-Eddine and keepers Nygaard and Rojas are on the plane. News from Jeorge Bird.

Is patino chit? Supposed to be highly rated but didn't play much for Swansea last year, not taken on tour this year, and doesn't seem to have much interest from clubs either.

posted on 21/7/24

Patino suffered last season from a change of manager and a relegation battle. The new boss felt he was a bit of a luxury in that situation. Still made 33 league appearances, but most of his 14 starts were in the first half being the sacking. Did well at Blackpool the season before.

Made it pretty clear he wanted to leave, so probably the reason he isn't going on tour. Obviously was linked with Italian giants, who probably have other priorities.
