Somehow, getting pretty much everything wrong about the suspect has actually emboldened these people.

The government, the media and the police told these idiots not to fall for the lies that were making them angry. They did fall for them, and now it's been shown that they were lies, they're angry at the people who told them not to fall for the lies, as well as at the people at whom the lies were designed to make them angry.

It's utterly surreal.
