EPL Top 6 predictions 24/25

Another EPL season is approaching very soon. Here is how I see top 6 shaping up this season:

I wasn't too far off last season

https://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/456046

1) Man City - The champions. Still the team to beat after a very close win last season. Alvarez is apparently off, so will be interesting to see if they will bring in another striker to cover for Haaland. Savinho is a good addition but may be too raw for EPL. If they don't do any more business, then Advantage will be to Arsenal.

2) Arsenal - Not lost any big players and addition of Calafiori and Timber's return to fitness has strengthened defense which was already very good last season. Lack of a clinical out and out striker may bite them again. Another midfielder also required.

3) Liverpool - Good season last time but faded at the end. Slot will bring more attacking fluidity. No signings yet but if they can improve midfield and defense then will be a real challenger to top 2.

4) Spurs- I expect better results for Spurs this season. Solanke will give them the focal point they missed last season. Will need the likes of Maddison, Udogie and Son to play at their best. New signings still needed.

5) Villa- Brilliant season last time and will give teams problems again. Douglas Luiz is a big loss so their success will depend on how they replace him. How will they cope with additional pressures of UCL?

6) Chelsea/Man Utd- Cannot decide between these two clubs. Chelsea have the better squad but lacked consistency last season. Man U are bringing in defensive reinforcements but midfield weaker than last season. The form of Hojlund/Zirkzee will have a huge say on where they finish

Does 5th place get top 4 this season with the new CL format? Or is it the same as last season where 5th place only gets top 4 if PL teams do well in Europe?

The latter

People were saying 5th place would get top 4 last season but it didn't happen? What needs to happen this season for 5th place to get top 4?

Hi Barry,

We need City, Arsenal and Liverpool getting out of the CL group - Villa doing similar would massively help as well.

Spurs and United to make Europa quarters

Chelsea to make at least the Conference semi.

We’re actually in a stronger position this season as Germany and Italy have additional sides in Europe - so the points they accumulate will be divided by a greater number than ours are.

Happy to bet £50 that The Prem gets an additional CL spot for the 25/26 season

So in the likely event that 5th place does get top 4 in the PL this season should people not be changing their top 6 predictions? I will now go with:

1. United
2. Arsenal
3. Liverpool
4. City
4. Spurs (5th place gets top 4)
5. Villa
6. Chelsea

I believe in the above case Villa would also get CL football cos they would finish 5th?

Are people answering the question when I ask "does 5th place get top 4 this season"? Then yes, yes we do.

Surely city don’t win it this season! Hopefully it’s Arsenal.

Gonna be a fun season with Barry around flogging this dead horse even more.

5th place won’t get top 4 Barry but it might be good enough for a Champions league place depending on Premier league clubs performances in Europe - could we possibly leave it at that for the season?
