Nketiah deal off!

European clubs always take the p*** with us when it comes to buying our players. I remember Roma trying to buy Xhaka for £12M. Now Marseille wont pay £25M for Eddie. Just hope we don't end up letting him go on a free.

When you look at the likes of Brewster going for 25 plus from Liverpool a few years ago then I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for £30 million. That being said its a difficult balancing act to accept clubs on the continent don't have the same finances as clubs in this country but also we need to make sure these clubs don't take mick. I'm sure he will still go come deadline day whether that's permanently or on a loan. Him still being here though shouldn't be an excuse to not get a forward player whether that's a wide player or someone central.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
brewster wasnt on anywhere near 100k+ a week was he? signing nketiah on a 5 year contract is 26m assuming he stayed on a similar wage signing brewster on a 5 year conttract less than 9m. brewster fee + contract 32m, nketiahs well over 50m more than likely. Also sheff utd had the prem money.

Yep, everyone disregards the wages too easily

when you give players like nketiah and hudson odoi 100k+ you rule outt 95 % + of the clubs to sell to unless they are willing to take a pay cut to play footy more often or other reasons.

carvalhos just joined brentford he was on around 40k a week that would put thim as their 3rd top earner behind mee and raya whos just left, toneys on 20k a week most clubs simply cant afford big fees ontop of big salaries.

Welcome to the real world, where clubs can't budget for spending silly money on rubbish players because they aren't backed by ridiculous sums of TV money.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Literally the opposite of Man Uniteds philosophy post Ferguson
----------------------------------------------------------------------

All PL teams really, not limited to United.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They been amongst the most horrendous recently - Maguire, Sancho, Anthony - nearly a quarter of a billion between them
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nah, all teams have thrown money up the wall.

Spurs have spent nearly £1.5bn on players in that time, for example. With precious little to show for it.

Historically, if you want to go past 11 years ago, no-one has wasted more money than Spurs trying to regain the league title. It's not even close. Nearly £600m more than the next worse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We’ve wasted loads, but not sure you can base it on the title - Gareth Bale wasn’t a waste of money for instance because we didn’t win the title - that’s just nonsensical.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, like I said, all teams not just United. Spurs was just one example. Probably the best example though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
United are the best example in the last 10 years, Chelsea in the last 3 years. Spurs have sold players for huge profit - Kane, Bale, Modric and qualified multiple times for the CL after only being in it’s equivalent once before that - it’s all relative
----------------------------------------------------------------------
prob best use teams that didnt win things during the period in question.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We’ve been in a CL final more recently and had just as many title challenges in the same time period

A club like United should be winning things all the time - Spurs not so much.

Touchy lot today

It’s top 6 conundrum - you either sell to each other, have an asset that the likes of Madrid/Bayern want or get lucky and have the new money stump up (currently Saudi Arabia)

What would United actually get for Maguire, Sancho and Antony? I reckon they would do well to get £80m between them

We asked for too much money.
Nketiah is a paid-up member of “The Not Terribly Good Club” & he’s on a £100k a week (!).

We have to hope some team get desperate as the window starts to close & we can still offload him.

We should have accepted the 17m offer
Not good for Eddie to remain at Arsenal
Hell only get games when Arteta is desperate.

so failed to win anything despite all that money spent... is it true that Spurs have spent the most money in the world in terms of clubs over the last decade who havent won anything?

Eddie will go in the last knockings of the window to someone like Palace or Bournemouth on loan with an obligation to buy. Clubs are doing this to avoid messing up their FFP for this financial year and are dipping into next year's budget.

Apparently Eddie agreed to a pay cut in the aborted OM move so i don't think his reduced wages would be a problem to a Prem club.

Anyway, he needs to go as he is blocking the space for an upgrade which we need.
