I know he is not a world class striker, but i do feel that his contribution to us last season has been under rated by many fans.
He has never been prolific and at times his touch and hold up play is not good enough BUT he is a committed player, who presses energetically, makes lots of runs down the channels and will chase 'lost causes'
For those who rate Xg, his last season was 9.6 and he scored 11, so he bettered that!
I think in our system these attributes add significantly to our team play in creating pressure, and space & opportunities for others while his natural strikers movement and heading ability also add something we lacked with Son (His first 5 goals for the club were all headers, he didnt score with his feet until December vs NUFC)
His basic 23/24 PL stats are 18 starts. 10 sub appearances. 1492 played minutes all together.
11 goals. 4 assists.
As a sub he was pretty ineffective with 1 goal & 1 assist (Both vs Sheff Utd) in those 10 apps. His average sub on time was the 76th minute, so he rarely had much time to make an impact.
As a starter he was much more effective with 10 goals and 3 assists in 18 games. A goal contribution every 1.38 starts.
Over all PL appearances, a contribution every 99 minutes on the pitch (1 every 1.1 games).
Of the 18 games he started, we won 12, lost 3 and drew 3. (2.16 pts per game)
In the 10 games he played no part in, we won 5 and lost 5.(1.5 pts per game).
As above, I am not making the case that he is a top drawer striker but i do believe that he can, when fit, really contribute to this team and can be a very valuable squad member this season, if we hang on to him. I think when he played last season (especially after his surgery) we were a better and more balanced team.
I can understand why he gets grief from fans, especially based on his first season, but that has to be viewed in the context that he played from wide left or right with Kane at 9, and we were a mess that season. His injury record does not help but hopefully his role in this squad can see us better manage his game time and fitness.
I am very happy with him and Solanke as our no.9 options this season, and would hope for a good 30 goals between them
COYS!

as you said ' when fit ' this is a big issue especially when we didn't have another striker

absolute minimum we will have 48 games this season.
realistically this could be 55-60 so there will be a big part for the whole squad to play this season (compares to last seasons 41 games).
I suppose this season we can afford to take a bit of time to 'get him right' physically whereas last season maybe he had to play more than he was fit to do.
fingers crossed

He's a head working lad with a bit of theatrics thrown in for good measure. As un-brazillian as a footballer can get.
Agree the expectation was raised by the fee we paid.
He's a decent player (dare I say on his day) but very inconsistent and picks up niggly injuries too... I guess because he does get stuck in.
I guess we've been spoiled with flare players over the years and Ricky does no fit that description one jot.

Love Richie, but you can just see it now can't you - we'll be playing our third or fourth Europa group game away at AZ Alkmaar having won all games in the group so far.
Another win here would set us up nicely to be able to rest players in the last games as we won't need anything, but as we're doing well in the league and having gone pretty full strength in the Europa so far, Ange decides to rotate a little and in come Richie, Davies, Skipp, Werner, Solomon, Dragusin, Spence etc.
We play well enough, but Richie and Werner miss a host of guilt edged chances.
Just as it looks like we'll have to settle for a draw, some 47 year old journeyman like Bafetimbi Gomis or Massimo Macarone or Henri Camara scores a header from a corner and we're suddenly back to full strength again in the Europa which will hinder our season in the long run.
I'm not this depressing in real life, promise!

I'm glad that we didn't sell him (yet) while also being glad he's got proper competition now.

I like Richarlison… I really do!
He’s an in your face, type player…We are so much harder to play against… as his work rate is excellent & he gets stuck in…that really unsettles defenders… & he wins the ball back…a lot!!
He great in the air… & always likely to score from headers… plus those 2 goals he scored against Everton, were excellent!!
If he stays fit, he’s an excellent member of the squad… happy to see him battle it out with Solanke…it will only benefit Spurs…
Hate it when he gets slated… there’s far worse in the squad than him!!

I remember an FA Cup game under Conte when he got a rare chance at no.9, @ SHeff Utd i think and we lost. That day he looked totally disinterested and i hated him at that point.
But on reflection, he knew he was never playing there in place of Kane 99 times out of 100 and Conte had made an enemy of him at that point, i think he had made some public comment about him....so i came to accept he had no passion for playing at that time and this was very bad man management from Conte.
But otherwise he is a player who gives his all.

Think he is judged on the inflated price you paid much like Pepe for us (who i liked). Havertz is one of the few to have turned this early opinion around but don't think Richarlie is as talented tbh

Yes it's very unfair that if we had paid £20m we'd probably be singing his praises and saying what a bargain we got. Richarlison is not responsible for the inflated transfer fee we paid. Decent squad player and in order to keep progressing we need to keep this type of useful squad player for when key players get injured rather than selling him to balance the books. He's versatile which I'm sure Ange likes.

he's just the kind of player our fans never rate, if we had Haaland upfront everyone would call him a carthorse and compare him to Chris Wood
