Hope to God this isn't true:
Brighton have activated a 40 million
release clause for Georgino.

What mental and physical state s the side going to be on
Saturday? The whole squad who are left must be totally demoralised and wonder what on earth is going on so it's unlikely we sign a new player or two who's eligible in time to play before we face WBA unless it's a loan deal maybe so the line up with I'm guessing Gnonto announcing he's not available to play will be fodder for our opposition and the best goalie in the Championship I think will be picking the ball out of his net at least 3 times.
Why oh why have the owners sat on their hands twiddling their thumbs while Rome is burning???
There should not only be a club statement but 2 or 3 new signings should have been announced before last night's Rutter news broke.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that was part of the problem last night. The clause was triggered before the game. Everyone must have known apart from the fans.
Morale looked rock bottom before they scored.
No wonder the phone signal is shiiiite at ER!

I remember getting slated for asking if we were in PSR trouble back in the summer. No, I was told. You're a
fcking idiot. Looks like we were and are. Massively.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Since Bielsa arrived we are roughly -£92m on player sales without the Rutter fee...that is absolutely nothing considering we were a Premier League club for 3 years. The £190 debt can be paid with the swish of a pen, nothing to do with PSR at this point. The club is awash with money!

Maybe the only way he would sign for us was if that clause was put in? His advisers will have suggested it for sure and the club had a decision to make I guess.
Contracts aren’t all one way and I guess at times both clubs and players have to compromise.
I think he’s gone even though he knew before the game and tried his best when he came on.
Why wouldn’t he go play in the top tier and double his wages? He owes the club nothing.
The only hope I have is that he loves the fans as much as they love him. Doubtful though.

"Maybe the only way he would sign for us was if that clause was put in? "
So, he would only sign for us for 35 mill if there was a release clause for 40mill.
Come on, stop making excuses for the owners over and over again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you saying that the club insisted on the clause? Why would they?
Contract negotiations are two way. I’m not defending the club but maybe they had a choice of agreeing or him going elsewhere?
The players seem to have all the powers these days. A bit like the unions under Labour.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I’m saying no one puts release clause on for 40 mill on a 35 mill player.
Paraag is an utter idiot.

But he wasn't a £35m player - he was £25m plus add ons. I suspect the add ons would be Full International and Europe for us. Those won't be paid now and probably never would whilst he played for us - for many years at least.

Plus we don't know that Paraag was involved. I suspect he was but Orta was still around at the time.

First of all unless we were actually a fly on the wall during the original contract negotiations between Rutter's representatives and Orta etc none of us know whether or not the release clause of £40 million was a set in stone condition on Rutter agreeing to sign for
Leeds.
Secondly once Rutter was having an excellent season last season none of us know whether or not a new contract with a higher release clause was offered to Rutter and it was refused which seems quite plausible as a safety net for Rutter if things went pear shaped which they did and he's moving on while his stock is high which is gutting for us as Leeds fans but that's football.
The bottom line now we all recognise is how our owners react and we shall be able to judge how serious they are about wanting Leeds to get promoted by who they replace our 2 most creative players with and whether they add at least a further 2 or 3 quality new signings
before the transfer window closes....Over to you 49ers and let's see what you are made of.

For me, it's less about the 40 mill clause
and more about the fact we've lost Georgie.
He was a freaking joy to watch last 2 seasons.

A joy to watch, like a Lamborghini in Hunslet. It's not going to be there forever.

Last season for sure but the season before he was struggling to make his mark. Settled well last season though.

When Orta first signed him - when we clearly needed
a striker/goal scorer - I, like many were hopping mad at
the club once we saw Rutter play. He looked awful.
But, like you say, he settled in last season and looked
great. Infectious, joyful player. I had high hopes for him
this season. We all did. He was clearly Farke's new
plan A (taking over from Cree). Sad he's gone.
I'm definitely following him, Cree, and Archie in the Prem.
