You couldn't make this up

" It has been suggested that the Whites will have to pay Rutter's former club around £4.2m to reflect add-ons not reached"

having to pay 4.2 mill not because some milestone (such as promotion or International call up etc) was reached but because milestone WASN'T reached!

Great contract dealing from Hoffenheim, utterly woeful contract dealing from Leeds.

There is no way Paraag, the contract king was not involved in this in Jan 2023.

If anything I would think it would be a 10% sell on clause which is very common in player sales.

So we buy him for £25m. Sell him for £40m. Sell on clause £4m. We should clear £11m.

Plus, of course there is amortisation to consider I think, but I’m no football accountant. Maybe someone can confirm that!

Hearing he’s passed his medical and been offered a five year deal.

Bye bye Georginio.

Dietmar Hopp is the main financial backer of TSG
1899 Hoffenheim, a soccer club that plays in the
First Bundesliga, the top division of Germany's
league system.

You need to tell Hoffenheim they got it wrong then.

Not really surprised - would have expected either a sell on clause or one which crystalises the add-ons in case of an early sale.

Remember that the purchase as during the January window when we were in a relegation fight; the player would have asked for a release clause and the selling club a early sale clause.

Probably lost in translation.

Now it seems - according to reports I’ve seen - that we got £42m for him. So…these are my assumptions based on what I’ve seen branded about:

I’ve seen we paid £25m for him and he’s sold for £42m. I’ve seen £4.2m going to his previous club (10% - normal clause these days). So we make about £12.8m. He’s on the books at about £15m, amortised - so in the accounts the profit will look much better.

It’s not about profit though is it? We are all just pissssed off he’s gone.

Not overly bothered if my sums are correct or not but in truth we won’t find out until the accounts are released. Even then I’m sure something else will crop up to confuse matters.

Well it looks like it was actually made up!

According to Pope there was never a sell on clause:

And this is the point.... many on here are going ape-shit on stuff that not only do they know nothing about, but which is actually just rumour and conjecture.

What a waste of peoples lives. Just don't get it.

I mostly agree, but for some, football is a huge part of their lives. Rightly or wrongly they get upset if things go belly up for their club.

However I’m also one who thinks life goes on and the club will go on as long as I’m alive (unless this government ban enjoyment next).

X is rife with rumours and inaccuracies and you just have to try and navigate through it without really believing everything you read.

Eventually the truth comes out I guess.
