We keep seeing a very short list of transfer targets, who seem to circle the drain without ever being sucked in. Jack Clarke, Jonathan Rowe, Sammy Szmodics to name the most recent.
And yet, among the players out of contract at the moment are:
Memphis Depay - CF - 30 yrs
Wojciek Szeszny - GK - 34 yrs
Marcos Alonso - LB -33 yrs
Surely we could find room for one of these players?

Surely a Championship side ain't paying £200k a week wages?

Might as well go for Adrien Rabiot if they are

Any of the above three players would be an asset – we lack players with experience and a steadying influence. As Alan Hansen said: 'You'll never win anything with kids.'

If you’re out of contract, you are on 000,000k per week. I’m sure we can better that, D’Jeezus.

If no-one else wants them, but I know Depay and Szczesny have both turned down fairly hefty offers already.
And it isn't just the £200k a week, they will also want a sizeable sign on fee.

With Saudi and MLS splashing the cash, they'll be holding out for moves out there id have thought. Schezny would be decent, no way would we get Depay and Alonso is bit slow these days.

You can sell the project to them. We got Strach in the late 80’s, Brentford got Eriksen more recently. There are players who want to play in front of 35k fans every other week instead of a couple of thousand in the baking heat of the Middle East.
