Bolton Wanderers v Wrexham

Matchday and up and at it early this morning. My first match since wembley and it's promoted Wrexham coming to the toughsheet for the first time in their history. A special connection with our old manager Phil Parkinson who deserves our respect after managing the club through the Anderson years and got Bolton promoted from league one something Ian Evatt hasn't done yet. Bolton haven't played Wrexham that much. This is the 14th match between the clubs. The last meeting was a 3-1 win at burnden in February 1989 in the Sherpa Van Trophy on the way to Wembley. The last league meeting that Robbie Savage match in 1988. Bolton hoping to keep up their good start to the season, a win at orient and knocking Mansfield out of the league cup in Midweek. Team news. Bolton have a squad of 23 out of 27 to pick from today. 4 are injured. Long term Mendes Gomes, Forrester, Lolos. Jones about a week away from returning to training. With the transfer window closing soon that squad could be cut down soon. Likely starting 11. Baxter. Toal Santos Iredale. Dacres-cogley Sheehan Thomason Schon. Arfield Collins Charles. Subs from Coleman, Southwood, Forino, Johnston, Williams, Matete, Osei-Tutu, Morley, Dempsey, Nlundulu, Adeboyejo, McAtee. Kick off 3pm live on sky sports and a crowd of over 25000 expected.

The highlights.
Which poor soul got the short straw to produce them this week.

Another big game was televised on Sky and we failed to win yet again. If this was a game when Evatt put his plan B into play, I failed to notice any difference from last year's below-par performances.

It is early days and some players need to get up to speed but tactically we were inept and the pressure that we applied in the first 30 minutes came to nothing. all in all a disappointing display from a team that has so much talent, perhaps the manager is just not good enough.

If we are not in the mix in December, Evatt should go. Some will say it's too early to judge him now, which I confess, it is. However, this is his third attempt of trying to to get us promoted to the Championship, how far does lotalty stretch?

I think he went like for like changes rather than change the system up because we were having chances and were the better side for the most part and the difference was that we weren't clinical enough.

Had we had a midfield totally disrupted and our wingbacks pushed right back there's a possibility that system changes would've been made.

Parkinson said that he knew how we play and went through it in training, or words to that effect. Every man and his dog should know how to nullify us by now.

i fear it is going to be another frustrating season.

Bonfire night is always a good night to serve judgement.
I'm reserving judgement on the new improved V1.1 until I see it.

I still think we should have invested in some shrinks.

We missed the B team yesterday
They won, looking at the report it was one for Benny with first team players involved.

Is that a misprint in the Ben?
It says we have no new injuries!

Should we take special note of the caveat, that was reported yesterday. We still have to get through today and the journey down to London.

Who gave Morley the good deal? Will he ever convince anybody to part with money for him?
