We hear this all the time when fans are restless about signings and I doubt it's any different now.
Farke apparently told players not to mope about lack of transfers as transfers will likely mean less game time for them.
So, where is is that we will bring in players better than what we have?
Let's look at the areas most of us seem to feel need improving:
Keeper
Creative midfielder
Striker
Keeper
We already have 3 keepers in the squad, I don not see us adding a 4th keeper better than Meslier, unless we're selling Meslier. I just dont see it happening at this point.
Creative midfielder
Wouldn't see anyone replacing Amazed or Gruev (although I think Gruev is poor) so that means replacement for Piroe, a 15 mill signing AND Rothwell who has only just signed!
Personally I would love to see a proper, creative 10 as that is not Piroe's sweet spot.
We've had years to look for this player, I'm not sure the gears suddenly ramp up with 10 days to go and relegating new signing Rothwell down pecking order.
Striker
We have 4 in squad already
Bamford
Joseph
Piroe
Gelhardt
There are plenty of strikers who can score and whom we could take a decent gamble on or even a more speculative one, but are we going to add a 5th striker and will they be better than what we have?
Again, I just don't see it.
So, who or where else?
We have 3 wingers in Gnonto, James and Aaronson, maybe Gnonto goes and then who comes in who was better than James last season? better than Aaronson should surely be possible.
Right back? I think with Bogle and Byram that's covered.
Left back? I think with Firpo and Byram that's covered.
Central defence? Still not clear what is going on with Cooper, but maybe we have space for one more as we have 3 and Wober ain't that great.
But overall, I dont see us signing players better than what we have and certainly not 4 of them.
People say judge Sept 1.
Sept 1 will see us 10% through season and out of one competition already. We have left this all far too late, and actually if we sign 4 players Aug 31 you can't judge them for some weeks.
It's really heartbreaking to see that we gave it a great go last season, I think we all understand we're going to lose players but looks like zero planning to bring in players as replacements and we've thrown away all competitive advantage we have from parachute payments, transfer monies, new investment.
There are thousands of players out there. we have more of a pull than the east of the division for all sorts of reasons, it's criminal how ineffective we have been in window so far.
We'll only sign if better than what we have

I now wish the owners would just announce they've sold the club and they're handing over complete control to Red Bull and clear off as their performance since the play off defeat has been totally disingenuous and disrespectful to the massive loyal fan base keeping schtum to this degree after selling all our key assets is highly suspicious. WTF is going on????

Could just be there reflecting squad being unsettled with all the departures. They'll know the team depth is getting thinner by the week. Ultimately its down to the club to accept offers ........

If true, goodbye to them both. Like rats wanting to leave the sinking ship. Both would have to be replaced if we made it back up anyway.

We just wasted a whole pre season building a team around certain players and then 3 games we've sold them all and have to bed new ones in, which is what pre season games are for
