Southampton v Forest - Match Thread

A disappointing draw in the end. The Danilo injury looked to upset the players and game plan. Our fitness also a concern. Bournemouth subs proving far more effective than ours.

Luckily we’ve signed Moreno, so have some cover at LB / Aina can move to the right.

Bournemouth:

The Good: the 1st half was impressive.

The Bad: MGW had a poor game.

The Ugly: thankfully the Danilo injury, whilst horrific on the field, isn’t as bad as feared. 6-8 weeks recovery, so he should be match fit by December.

Special Mention(s): Yates had his best game.

The Last Time we played Southampton (H) 4-3!! Awoniyi on the double, a MGW penalty and Danilo.

Navas

Aurier Felipe Niakhate Lodi

Yates Mangala

Johnson MGW Danilo

Awoniyi

Proposed Line-up:

Sels

Williams Milenkovic Murillo Aina

Anderson Sangare

Elanga MGW CHO

Wood

Subs:

Miguel, Boly, Omobamidele, Moreira, Moreno, Dominguez, Yates, Sosa, Awoniyi

.

Injuries: Danilo. Possibly Aina and Elanga.

League Form:

Southampton lost their first game 1-0. Schar got a straight red thanks to the antics of Big Ben.

Prediction:

I expect us to Nick this 1-0. Switching to a back three wouldn’t surprise me. Another 4-3 wouldn’t surprise me…hopefully we win either way.

Final Words:

Time to get back to winning ways.

COYR!!!

Well we made hard work of that.
Still lots of work to be done, but points on the board.

Does feel that adding a striker to this group is a good idea, someone who is a bit more clinical!

Sounds like Nketiah is the favorite and he does seem to have that edge, time will tell 🤷

A comfortable win, with us looking every inch a PL team.

A few times I thought that a different option up front was needed, looking at how we played, Nketiah (who I wasn’t excited about) looks a perfect fit.

Add in Moreno (as well) and Sosa and we have a very strong XI, with a very strong bench.

We could do with keeping the unbeaten run going (vs Newcastle). I think we’d go on to beat Wolves next weekend.

7 points from the first three would be a fantastic start.

Looking at the after thought hi-lights on MotD I thought that Wood needed better service he is on form after all. Or have HoD and Elanga been told to shoot and ignore the striker in the box?
