BARROW v DERBY COUNTY Carabao Cup #2
Tuesday 27th August 2024, 1945 SO Legal Stadium, Barrow
Iβm posting this very early as I am away next week and will struggle for wi-fi unless I want to pay stupid prices. Who knows, I may be able to dib in and out on Tuesday, so once again Ang on GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL duty.
This may be an opportunity to bring those with niggles or experiment with new systems. Even give our new signing his first game between the sticks?
Of course the away end is not yet sold out β on Tuesday night no less which again could be very impressive.
Team: ZetterstrΓΆm (GK), Ward, Nelson, Bradley (C), Forsyth, Goudmijn, Adams, Chirewa, Thompson, Barkhuizen, Collins.
Subs: Vickers (GK), Elder, Nyambe, Ozoh, Yates, Mendez-Laing, Washington, Jackson, Brown.
Barrow 0-0 Derby County (3-2 pens)

Not necessarily the result but the performance needs to be a hell of a lot better than last night!

I've now been able to watch the recording of the whole game and while I don't think it was as bad as some have made out there were still many things to be concerned about.
Unless injuries and lack of game time determined the team selection I would ask what was the point in taking on T (presumably) as a number 10/8 and then playing him mainly wide on the right? What was the point of having three (nominally) up front but allowing or making them play as individuals in lone furrows and expecting one or more of them to have an impact in the oppo penalty area? What was the point of according the opposition far too much respect thus allowing them to gain in confidence and realise that it could be easy to stop us from scoring? We seemed to have no umph or desire to ruffle feathers. Was all this down to PW and his coaches or were his players all shrinking violets at times?
There were some exceptions - Ebou was easily MOM; JWZ did well and NML and Jackson tried to liven things up when they came on but not giving Collo or Brown any meaningful support was bewildering. Kenzo was pretty good albeit under constant oppo pressure.
We can't keep sitting back in matches and hope to catch teams on the break as if we concede first then how likely are we to be able to get back in it? I hope for better agin Brizzle.

Cheers Chicago,
Covers a lot of my questions regarding performances. I expect marked improvement against Bristol City. The fact we'll be facing two ex Derby players (possibly three) should have everyone on their toes.
If we manage to get anything from this game I'd consider it a league overachievement for September as I had a maximum of 1 point as the best we could achieve versus three established Championship sides.
