One match ban enabled
The first home game of a new season always comes with a bit of extra hope and expectation and a high profile opponent definitely adds a bit extra to that. Having completed a league double over the blues last season it is certainly not beyond the realms of expectation that we could pick up a point or three. They could probably put out two or three completely different 11s that could give us a game, but hopefully we'll be a match for whoever lines up against us. A return for the prodigal Pedro to should add some spice of he survives his first start tonight in the Europa Conference without injury.
Transfer rumours abound without a great deal of substance. A CB and a winger appear to be targets. But we have good depth at the moment in most positions if not quality. But will the likes of Podence, Guedes, Dawson, Bueno, Doyle, Cundle, Bellegarde be happy startng on the bench most weeks? Chances are a couple of these will move I guess. Question is will we a) replace the departed with quality, b) get the outgoing deals done in sufficient time to get the incoming ones sorted?
But that'll all get sorted next week one way or another. Think we might just surprise a few this weekend, 2-1.

Sutherland only 18 so another one for the future. Made his league debut for St Mirren against Celtic at the weekend. Spent the second half of last season on loan at Alloa who are a stronger team than most Wolverhampton pub teams

Straight in the first team then!
Sa has been good for us but now may be the time to change …..

In the round, I'm not sure I see Johnstone as an upgrade on Sa, Ramsdale may have been. 31 now and mostly been a back up, certainly in the top league with the exception of that one season down the road which ended in relegation and being beaten twice by Fabio Silva.
Underwhelming signing if it happens.

Worth noting the Saudi window closes in early October so a few outs can be sorted after Friday

Sa, Sarabia and Podence all contenders for moves to Saudi. Maybe Ruben Neves is now a part time agent

Espanyol in Spain waiting for Wolves to pull their finger out in the transfer market. If Ramsdale signs from Arsenal then Garcia the Espanyol keeper is earmarked to replace him, something they don’t want to happen so late in the window. And Espanyol have a 20% sell on clause for when they sold Koleosho to Burnley so they hope that one happens. Maybe some private chats in the boardroom at tonight’s game to resolve that transfer one way or another

Do agree with that. Ramsdale ot Kelleher yes, but Johnstone not really

To add to the goalkeeping conundrum it seems Arsenal still want Bentley as a back up keeper. If that goes through Wolves may need to sign two keepers. That’s unless Sa does stay and we get Johnstone as competition
Quite scary how many things are up in the air with the deadline so close
