God this has been such a long saga this summer. The forest deal is officially off now Palace are in talks to sign him.

It's not Nketiah's fault, it's the fault of Arsenal's stupid negotiators.
Nketiah is a journeyman footballer being paid a ridiculous £120k a week, the sort of clubs that want somebody like him either don't have the money to pay what Arsenal want or can't afford his salary - especially if they could get relegated.
Nketiah has three more years guaranteed at £120k a week & he is understandably not keen to give that up.

Wages are such a red herring.
People complain about Eddie's £100k a week!
But £60k a week would be ok because that was what Balogun was on!
£40k a week = c£2m a year or £8m over a 4 year contract!
So Arsenal can accept £25m instead of £30m-£35m and it would be OK! Are they doing that?
Why can't you people accept Arsenal like Eddie and value him. They will not let him go below his valuation.

Not really a red herring. Let's say you're a smaller club that can currently afford Nkets even at his joke wages, it's a gamble that you think is worth taking but it eventually goes wrong.
You get relegated while he's stinking out the place. You have a very high earner by most clubs standards who is virtually unsellable as his stock has dropped - you've fecked your finances and can't shift him.

Well if his stock has dropped why would you keep him? So sell him at discounted price. That can be baked into the contract. A lot of clubs do that. Why do you want him to take a wage cut?

To be fair, I definitely don't mind if we offload him at a reduced price. Will just be surprised if we manage to get anything for him in the end due to the wages.

The thing is Arteta values him eventhough he hardly plays. So we might not rate him, and I haven't for ages, is not really the point. So it is obvious by now that Edu will not let him go till they get what they want for him.

Yes, that's a mistake, but we've been making that mistake with a number of players for quite a while - & the bottom line is that he does NOT play him.
