This morning, off the southern coast of Portugal, around 5 or 5.5 magnitude on the richer scale.
Hope no serious damage, but fortunately I don't know of any of your lot who live down that way...

Depends on a number of factors. Depth, distance to major cities, types of buildings, soil, etc.
There was a 5.1 magnitude quake in southwestern Spain not that long ago that caused significant damage, 9 dead and several hundred injured.
