Prudent or Half hearted?

With 2 days to go until the transfer deadline time is running out to bring extra bodies into the first team. With a first team squad of just 20 players (excluding Cairns) we still look light for a season of 46 games. Add in the fact we carry injury prone players Bamford, Byram and Firpo it does suggest that we could do with at least two more players through the door. Excluding U21 players we have just 6 defenders so at present injuries means the possibility of Ampadu having to go back into defence or Wober playing left back.

Archie Gray/ Roca money ensured that we were safely within PSR for the current period and could afford Rodon at that time. Projections suggested we still needed money for next close season. Since then we have sold off a multitude of players - Cresswell, Llorente, Kamara, Summerville and Rutter - approximately £81m. Of that £81m we have spent maybe £12m on Ramazani and loan fees for Rothwell/Solomon.

So the £69m.......is this going to be spent in 2 days?
has this money mainly been banked to offset issues for next seasons PSR?
or are we somewhere between the two with one eye on the possibility of failing to be promoted this season again and with less parachute money slowly accepting a fate of reducing our budgets to second tier?
It certainly does not feel like we are beating out the "we are not dicing around"

Ao Tanaka flying this morning for a medical. Leeds United hopeful of completing that one today. Also expecting movement on other business today in order to complete tomorrow. The hope is for three. Tanaka, full-back and another. No guarantees obviously.

Do you think we'll make a fortune from shirt sales like you thought we would from Ideguchi?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If he stays and plays then possibly. Especially if we go up and he plays for us in the Prem.

There you go - at least I have the guts to answer when pulled up on something I said a few years back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I normally don't remember something you said yesterday, but the Ideguchi shirt sales claim was such a classic

so many on here thats what makes it light hearted banter IMO... there is a premier league thread still going, after a United fan said something along the lines of Salah a poor signing..... last time I checked the thread was still going

gotta take your lumps when they come around

Anybody know how to properly pronounce his name, I put 碧 into google translate which I lifted from Wiki and it didn't sound anything like the electrical appliance retailer.

I'm still wary of our owners and not 100% impressed with the way they operate leaving everything to the last minute is not my idea of a well run ship....okay they may have allayed my asset stripping concerns after so many star player exits and such deafening silence and no
evidence of any new incoming players until a week ago
but even with a little over 24hrs to go until the transfer
window closes we are scrambling around to get the
barest minimum of deals done to pad out our new
streamlined squad which must be one of the smallest in
numbers in the Championship.

I know Faith, Germany and a few others still believe in
these owners of ours and you are certainly very patient
men for not having the same worrying concerns and
feelings of distrust a lot of us on here shared, admittedly
I imagined the absolute very worst but their silent pee poor PR behaviour did that, but a week or so on, if we only
bring in AO, and a new left back and keep Gnonto I'll accept that as our lot plus the new players we already have but to my reckoning if that is our total business the owners are at least £70 million in profit allowing for all the financial restrictions but that's their perogative as owners, they aren't doing anything illegal but you'd of hoped they would be happy with say just a £50 million profit but there is still time for a marquee signing or two to make that scenario come true.

Anyway like the rest of us I shall be following events closely between now and tomorrow night when whoever
we have brought in or not the team Saturday are fired up
sufficiently to beat Hull City and keep spirits on here at
least, unusually positive.

49ers still have a lot to prove. I’m just not going to overreact to everything that goes wrong. Things will always go wrong. It’s on them to deal with it.

And there is not a chance in hell that the club makes a profit of £50m this season.

And as much as you think it would help you to know who we want to sign and how much we want to pay, it ain’t going to help the club telling everyone that info is it. Unfortunately we have no choice but to wait and see.

If we only sign Tanaka and Schmidt I won’t be happy at all. I still think it will be enough to get us up but I don’t think we can afford to risk it. Add Sallai or Hamer on top of that and it’s hard to complain really.
