I managed 150 out 209, and didn't feel too bad about the ones I forgot, though undoubtedly several of you will better my score. As a marginal form of entertainment, I found it interesting to see how my brain works: sometimes coming up more readily with fringe players from 1991 than the second choice centre forward of a more recent era. Also a lot of pleasure in dredging up names I haven't heard or recollected in years.

I often struggle with spellings on these things though - is there any built in leeway?

It's not affiliated with the NYT as far as I know. I think they've been playing around with different funding models. A while ago it would only let you read a certain number of articles without paying. Now it seems they're trying free access but asking for donations. Funding good journalism is tricky in today's market.
