The squad

After a very busy transfer window, with 4 seniors in and a number out, the squad for the first half of the season has been finalised.

SQUAD (without expected departures):

Goalkeepers - 2 (1HG)
Raya, Neto

Defenders - 8 (2HG, 1CT)
White, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Timber, Zinchenko, Tomiyasu, Kiwior

Midfield - 9 (4HG, 2CT)
Rice, Jorginho, Partey, Merino, Odegaard, Trossard, Martinelli, Saka, Sterling

Strikers - 2
Jesus, Havertz

21 players (14nonHG, 7HG - 3 CT 4AT)

Premier League squad rules
25 man squad, with no more than 17 non HG. We are well within that quota.
We can use unlimited u21s, so Nwaneri, Lewis-Skelly, Nichols, Heaven, Setford and others can be used along with the 21 man squad.

Champions League rules
25 man A-list squad.
4 places for Club Trained players (players who were at the club 2 years between 15 and 21)
4 places for Association Trained players (players who were at English clubs for 2 years between 15 and 21)
B-list - unlimited number of u21s who have been at the club for at least 2 years.

We are one short of the CT quota, but with just 21 players that doesn't matter. However, players like Setford and Nygaard will have to registered on the A-list taking us up to 23 players.

Other options
Kieran Tierney is currently injured and remained at the club. While he is unlikely to be used, he will surely take a squad place given the numbers.
Omar Rekik seems to be still at the club. While he is unlikely to play he can be named in the squad as the 4th Club Trained player for CL, which, with Tierney, gives us the full 25 man squad for CL.

There were not as many academy loans as expected, so there are some youngsters with senior experience who may be used such as Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Khayon Edwards, Salah Eddine Oulad M'Hand.

We have strengthened in defence and Sterling is an upgrade on Nelson so the attack has been strengthened. Still wish we signed a striker though.

Poor window.

Tomiyasu, Zinny, Jesus and Partey will miss large chunks of the season due to injury

All 4 probably don't get into our best XI once Merino is fully fit, so not sure the issue. Every team has injuries, it is part of football. We have a lot of players in the Partey, Tomi and Zinny positions and up front Havertz will be first choice and Trossard and Sterling have played a lot there too.

Weve definantly improved the quality of players in the squad. But we are heavily reliant on Havertz to stay fit pretty much all season and play upfront
