could be worse… United embarrassing themselves again against Liverpool !!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did we refuse to pay the money for slot? Can’t remember…
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn't he just decide against coming to us? Unless there was more to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
to be fair we’d probably ruin him. can’t think of a single player that improved since joining spurs in the past 5 years…. given we’ve had a succession of different managers.. the only constant through that has been ENIC and levy.
if the ownership of the club doesn’t care about winning, why should the players… they’re getting paid regardless
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree. It's easy to see these managers do well with other clubs but not always likely to translate to Spurs.
Whatever else we could have done in the transfer window, it doesn't matter now. It's finished. It's over to Ange to see what he can do. Today was very disappointing and even worse that we have to wait during the international break. If when we return we have Solanke back, he does well and we somehow beat Arsenal, things then don't look as bad.

Just because I said that doesn't mean I believe it's going to happen.
Reality is we'll probably get beaten then the pressure heaps ever more on ETH.

ETH? Ange I mean.

It seems we are stuck with a very unimaginative manager who seems unable to change tactics.
When we don't have our fastest run-back defender on the pitch we just cannot afford to play the highest of high lines.
One hoof ball and a foot race lost us the match. Easy tap-in for Newcastle.
And Aussieglue wonders why?

it is aburd that teams don't need skill to trouble us. hoof it up aimlessly and run onto it.

This is my concern with Ange long term. Will he ever adapt so we aren't so vulnerable? I think our back 5 are all quality players yet we are conceding so many because of the system.
However well we're playing unless we're 2 or more up we are one long ball and well timed run away from the opposition getting back into/winning the game.

The only way in the last 20 years we came close to breaking the ceiling that the link in this article refers to is go young with a manager who likes to play front foot football and stick with it and see where it takes us. With Alli, Kane, Eriksen, Son, Walker, Rose, Dier etc, Poch took us to semi finals, finals, and 2nd place.
It's the only way a club like us is going to have a chance, so we can only hope that Gray, Bergvall, Johnson, Sarr, Odobert etc can grow together in a similar way. If you take away the expectations for a second and just enjoy watching players like the aforementioned grow, it actually becomes fun again!

Even those with an ear to the ground at Spurs have got Levy’s number. This thread, with Paul O’Keefe, says everything. It’s exactly what I’ve been saying since the window closed. We’re not signing young players because they’re good, we’re signing them because they’re cheap.

He seems to also claim that we’re deliberately trimming the fat in terms of the wage bill in order to make a minority investment more palatable. Basically this frugal approach isn’t going to stop until investment is sealed. The clue is in the wages, not the transfer fees we’ve paid. Once again, Levy is making footballing concessions in pursuit of profit.
Honestly, anyone still backing him I think is just dumb to the facts now. This club will go nowhere until he leaves.
