Glasgow derby stats

Celtic FC manager Brendan Rodgers has the best record of any manager in the long history of the derby

The Irishman has won an amazing 79% of his 20 games in the fixture and only lost one

That’s better than:

Steven Gerrard - 62% win record* from 13 games (*including 4 wins from 5 games played behind closed doors) and 50% win record from 8 games with fans in. (8 wins, 4 defeats)

Martin O’Neill - 59% win record from 27 games (16 wins, 5 defeats)

Bill Struth - 57% win record from 116 games (66 wins, 38 defeats)

Ange Postecoglou - 55% win record from 11 games (6 wins, 3 defeats)

Graeme Souness - 52% win record from 27 games (14 wins, 8 defeats)

Jock Stein - 50% win record from 58 games (29 wins, 14 defeats)

Walter Smith - 50% win record from 56 games (28 wins, 14 defeats)

Amazingly Rodgers has also won more derby games AT IBROX than Walter Smith in the whole of the 90s, Dck Advocaat and Alex McCleish - and double the amount of Gerrard in front of fans

Rodgers wins at Ibrox - 6
Smith derby wins at Ibrox in the 90s - 5
McLeish derby wins at Ibrox - 4
Advocaat derby wins at Ibrox - 3
Gerrard derby wins at Ibrox in front of fans - 3 (6 in total including Covid season)

Be careful what you say, their will be offers from a P/L team coming up if you're not careful !

The most surprising thing for me is the low figures for Smith and Souness. Both had an embarrassment of riches.

From online Sporting News just after the last game.

<< Celtic vs Rangers head to head, all-time results
The latest Old Firm clash on September 1 was significant in the all-time head to head: Celtic now have the edge when it comes to the most wins in this fixture.

Overall, these two teams have met 442 times in major competitions.

Celtic wins 170, Rangers wins 169, Draws103. >>

No bad considering the Brethren on the pitch, & the Ernie Walkers aff it.

Plus of course the White/Kelly/Lawwell Biscuit tin mentality.

Worse.

Wharton & co.

No 4th, most games not televised, no replays when they were.

We must have been amazing.

When you're good enough the ref doesn't matter?

Apparently Brian McGinlay was a decent ref..?
