Again a settled line up with Tanaka coming in for Ampadu.
Starting, I think you could see that Tanaka not quite up to speed at this level and Norwich seemed to cut through us quite easily and before you know it, Sargent trickery and a penalty that you'd really hope Meslier would have saved and we're chasing, away from home.
We never turn these around do we and the commentator was actually right about us not getting behind Norwich, but saying we're not causing them any problems and Gnonto send Largie through to equalise made that commentator spend rest of ,match trying to justify himself.
I thought we looked quite fragile defensively, but one bright spark was Rothwell having more game time. Hadn't been impressed so far but when he got ball the pass was more likely to be forwards than Gruev's whose would more likely to be backwards.
Aaronson caught the eye with his return to normality and his ineffectiveness with passes, holding ball and staying on his feet, yet Angus Kinnear feels this is player who can play in any top league in Europe.....
Subs of Bamford and Piroe too late to change things and killed teh momentum that was coming, but one wonders how much longer Joseph gets to start with 1 goal from 8 matches now.
I dont think he got the service tonight, but 1 goal in 8 is not the return you need from striker in team aspiring for promotion. People slate Bamford but Joseph's goal return has to improve.
Crunch match coming up, I'd take another away draw, will be interesting to see if Farke makes changes.
Thoughts from tonight

My take on it.
Rodon and Struyk, worst performance of season, very sloppy first half.
Bogle, after a poor start this season, getting better and better
Nothing wrong with firpo
AO - thought did very well, neat and tidy and moves the ball forward
Rothwell - different to rest of midfield, drives the ball forward, will be important in next three months.
Willy, best player in the league
Razzi, took goal lovely, works hard
Aaronsson, busy without doing alot but not without trying.
Joseph - not alot of service, can believe people are writting him off, playing the hardest position in football.
Bamford - poor
Piroe - worst than Bamford, passing completion is disgusting low.
Geldhart, came on too late and then wrong position, its unfair on him.
Ref was an utter disgrace, should have penalty.
The five sub rule, I think needs changing back to three. Whilst its not rules fault for a manager bringing on 5 players, too many games are getting ruined by multiple
subs.
Farke, has there ever been a worse manager for subs. Always makes us worst.
We had them by the throat, disappointing

Morning allπ.
To add my thoughts (only watched the highlights on Sky plus the two post-match pressers with DF and Rothwell) … stupid lunge by Rodon and definite penalty … Meslier seemed to watch it into the net and should have saved it … Gnonto looked lively and was desperately unlucky with the shot against the post … Gnonto/Ramazani partnership gives me hope for autos this season … however Rothwell/Tanaka partnership needs some time ππ

From a Norwich forum:
Entertaining game with some odd refereeing decisions which spoilt things a bit, City definitely moving in the right direction but I think Sargent needs help up front, only one shot on target (the penalty) at home is poor. Leeds might feel disappointed with a draw but they look better than last season after a re-build again over the summer.
Add to that, despite the fact the 'we should be beating Norwich' comments - they are 11 months unbeaten at home and were never going to roll over for Leeds of all teams.
I was frustrated with some of the sloppy passing to be honest, but, can also see that when we click, definitely more of a unit there than last seasons reliance on individual magic.
Can we unstick Sunderland - I think so, hope so, but would also take a point from another tough away game going into the break.

Thought we were the better side and if Norwich are one of the better ones then it would be embarrassing if we didn't get promoted. Thought everyone played well, Rodon and Struijk had hot and cold moments but we don't have any weak areas. Tanaka looks tidy and will be very good once up to speed. Game was killed when we took Gnonto and Ramazani off, Bamford shouldn't be anywhere near the squad right now, miles off it. Would take a point at Sunderland although champions tend to still win the tougher games.

A very good report on why things were changed with twenty minutes to go.
We have to trust the coaching staff and remember it’s a marathon not a sprint. Friday is a tough game - not a title decider but a good indication of where we are with this weakened squad.

I dont understand how playing 70-80 odd minutes is any much better than playing the full 90?

Unless on a booking, absolutely. Gnonto could have done another 7-8 minutes and probably would have created atleast 1 more chance.

If we fail to get a result on Friday then Farke's substitution policy and reasoning last night goes up in smoke.... You should capitalise on your clear dominance in the game in question get the 3 points and then think of your next match afterwards.
Had we not been on top of Norwich when the subs were made then fair enough but last night's decision making process by Farke was a vital 3 point opportunity missed by his passive negative sabotaging actions in my opinion but fingers crossed the team in spite of DF can make up for those 2 dropped points last night and do us proud against Sunderland.

Mes earning us a point with a great save but being slammed for not saving a penalty is pretty much what I would expect.
We have conceded fewer goals than all of two teams got a draw against a team that just don't lose at home yet the fault is with mes and not with our forwards led by a player who for all his hard work doesn't score.
