Another matchday of shocks and twists in South American World Cup Qualifying.
Argentina are still top, but are on a 2 games without a win streak! A 1-1 draw in Venezuela after Salomon Rondon equalised an early Otamendi goal.
Colombia couldn't take advantage, though, as they suffered at altitude in Bolivia. The home side won 1-0, the first defeat the Colombians have suffered in the campaign and particularly gutting as they had beaten Argentina last time out and could have gone top.
Uruguay were last to play, and lost 1-0 to Peru yesterday morning. Worryingly for Uruguay this is 3 games without scoring, and they had players like Nunez back from suspension.
Brazil have caught up the frontrunners but had to come from behind to beat Chile 2-1. Igor Jesus got a debut goal before his club team-mate Luis Henrique won it late on.
Ecuador maintained their position in the top 5 after a 0-0 with Paraguay. Venezuela are in 7th - the play-off place - behind Bolivia, who moved up to 6th. Peru kept themselves just about in the mix with that win over Uruguay, but Chile are now bottom and look in a very bad position.

Think they bled the golden generation for everything they had and had no-one coming through

That's probably right. Just had a look through their current squad and recent call-ups.
Barring the odd over-the-hill veteran here and there, there's barely anyone playing in the top European leagues.
