Decent win yesterday for Spurs

in a match that is always a potential banana skin, due to West Ham always upping their game. On the offensive Spurs are just about the most exciting team in the Prem right now, not sure to many will disagree with that. I think we will all just have to live with the odd defensive lapses if we want this exciting football going forward.

The question is what is the ceiling for this side/squad? Still early in the season, but Spurs do seem to be going in the right trajectory now, six wins out of seven. In reality, but for 45 minutes at Brighton, should have been seven out of seven. Plenty to be positive about. This time last season Spurs were still unbeaten, but they were perhaps riding their luck a little. This season doesn`t seem like that, despite some defeats, they have pretty well dominated every game they have played, and if they can cut out the 15/20 minute spells in matches where they switch off the future looks very bright.

Spurs are already the Prems top goalscorers, and despite the perception, myself included that Spurs have a carcrash of a defence, they have still only conceeded nine goals in eight games. Which is still pretty good.

Next half a dozen fixtures, don`t look to bad, City aside, but they are not exactly firing on all cylinders, so would be nice to make it a Manchester Double pre December.

Palace (a)
Aston Villa (h)
Ipswich (h)
Man City (a)
Fulham (h)
Bournemouth (a)

A good set of results from those half a dozen fixtures, could propel Spurs into contention for Top Four. Although I still think the cups are the best way forward this season, and given a few favourable draws, this could be the season to finally land a trophy.

The squad is now looking strong, players to come off the bench and change games. Midfield very interchangeable now. Maddison and Bentancur to perhaps provide the finesse and Sarr and Bissouma to provide the legs. Kulu has been a revelation this season as well, as has Johnson. Richarlison, if he can keep fit gives another option up front, and if Son can give perhaps one last big season, then who knows. The defence is what it is, brilliant going forward, but not so good when it comes to defending, but I think I can live with that, provided they are not letting in hatfalls every match. Vicario seems to have sorted out his problems at set pieces, and is looking very decent again with his shot stopping.

All in all looking much, much better than most of us would have thought pre season, after not that great an end to last season.

I feel positive again.

One thing Sandy might try to explain is why we let goals in from corners, but.......we don't score any from our corners.
We had a record number of corners yesterday and didn't score from any of them.

Wait till we lose a couple and Sandy will do another 180 back to "sack the bugga".

Ted I think it was you that posted that Spurs had a strategic dunce as a manager.

You are clearly backing Ange.

Pot and kettle come to mind with you.

I stand by that comment. Aussieglue is a strategic dunce. A one trick pony.
Happens to have worked the last couple of matches.
Very nearly didn't at Coventry.
Luckily for him we have an excellent back four.
In fact, now Son's back, the whole squad is looking top four. If only Timo Werner would show up.
But I'm willing to bet he's going to come a cropper pretty soon. Why?
No plan B.......

No Plan B!

So taking Maddison off at half time on Saturday and bringing on Sarr, and Spurs score three unanswered goals is not a Plan B?

Ted you are clueless at times, and sure you don't watch many of the matches. And Spurs don't have an excellent back four. Good going forward, not that good at defending. It's the weakest point of the team, but I can live with the odd lapse if the forwards are banging them in at the other end.

Did the style of play change with one substitution? No. In fAct Sarr's instructions were "more of the same". And moreover, Sarr actually didn't do a lot. Kulusevski was doing the work going forward, along with Porro , Udogie, and sometimes Bentancur. Oh yes, and VDV made several of his trademark runs.
Sometimes Sandy you are a clueless clutz, considering you actually go a watch the match. Of course you can't replay the match.

Sarr created sons goal with an interception and great pass

Match of the day also did a great overview of what he did when he came on

Didn’t do a lot though you say

This is Ted you are talking about. I am sure he doesn`t watch most matches. Not saying Sarr completely changed the match, but he contributed hugely to the 2nd half performance. Only Ted would not see that though.
