Ten Hag vs Klopp - A Comparison

Location: View on MapWhen: on 9/9/24

Good afternoon.

I have just received the devastating news that Erik Ten Hag has been sacked by my club, Manchester United. Ten Hag was officially our best manager since Fergie and the second most successful manager in modern English football history behind Pep Guardiola*.

Ten Hag was only at us for two full seasons, but comparing his achievements with those of our rivals, we can all see that he firmly kept us on our perch.

Comparing the two seasons Ten Hag had with us to the two seasons Liverpool's greatest ever manager Jurgen Klopp had at the same time, up against him, we can see just how well Ten Hag did.

Liverpool under Klopp 2022-2024:

PL: Best finish 3rd
FA Cup: Early rounds, beaten by Man Utd
League Cup: Winners 2024
Europe: Last 16 of CL, shipped 5 at home to Real Madrid, Europa League early rounds, shipped 3 at home to lowly Atalanta.
English Super Cup: Never qualified

Man Utd under Ten Hag 2022-2024:

PL: Best finish 3rd
FA Cup: Winners 2024, runners up 2023
League Cup: Winners 2023
Europe: Latter rounds of Europa League 2023, BEATING La Liga winners Barcelona. CL groups 2024
English Super Cup: Joint winners 2024 (losing exhibition pen shoot out)

So to summarise, Man Utd under Ten Hag did equally as well as Liverpool in the league, won more FA Cups, won the same amount of Carling Cups and did equally in Europe and did better in the Super Cup.

He therefore had far superior two seasons at United than Liverpool did under Jurgen Klopp.

So the stark reality is, as claimed by our rival fans, our WORST ever manager, was actually BETTER than Liverpool's GREATEST ever manager.

I think this just goes to show the difference in standards at the two clubs.

Good day.

Honest question for Liverpool fans. Over the past two seasons, would you swap your one Carling Cup and third place PL finish for our one Carling Cup, third place PL finish AND an FA Cup?

Essentially, would you like a free FA Cup for admitting that Ten Hag was more successful than Klopp in his time at United?

"Squirming uneasily"?
What at exactly? The thought that you might be getting Safegate in?
You should be squirming at the thought of finishing in the bottom half of the table.

This is quite a reach, even for you, Dim Bulb

Great article, sounds like you should have stuck with the manager. Don’t worry , I’m sure Southgate is looking forward to the challenge.

OP

If he was so successful why was he sacked?

Higher standards than at Liverpool. Apparently Klopp left because he was tired trying to keep pace with Ten Hag, which he failed to do. Klopp left because of Ten Hag being better than him.

Another one talking absolute kack.
You don't have higher standards at all. You simply have aspirations to return to the fergie era, but, and you know this, it will never happen again.
You're back to where you always were pre fergie. Might win a cup every decade or so, not much else.
