For the first time in ages this (potential) managerial appointment is something every single supporter can be excited about. I wasn’t sold on Ten Hag, others weren’t sold on Jose etc but this guy is a man everyone seemingly wants.
It’ll be good to see him back at the club and this time he can inspire the players to buy into his methods in a way Ten Hag didn’t.
Welcome back to United Mr Amorim

When I look at what Amorin has achieved, it's seems similar to what ETH acheived at Ajax. Hopefully he can handle the step up.

Thank god. I thought I was the only one seeing this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My thoughts too. I kind of want a manager who has tried and failed in the Prem once. Someone with mistakes hes learnt from. ETH will make a good manager next time he gets a big club to manage,

Liverpools squad had the winning culture and coaching standards of the Klopp years and Slot has seemlesly fitted into that himself. He hit the ground running. Lpools players are much beyter than Uniteds too. Ypu cant compare what Uniteds new manager is set to face compared with what Slot faced. United is currently a Ten Hag chit show
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you do Slot some injustice here - many thought he would struggle initially, but he has adapted the team to be a little less gung-ho and is moulding them into his way. What if we had got Slot, how would he have done here? You just don't know really.
Like you said Slot has hit the ground running, but it's whether he can maintain that. You only have to look at what ETH achieved in his first season, a third place and a trophy, and then it went downhill from there.
I don't deny Liverpool have a better squad that us, but I also don't believe that ours is so bad that it shouldn't be doing better than what it is.
I genuinely think the Utd job is a great opportunity for a manager to show what he can do and be the one to get Utd back on their feet. ETH turned out not to be that guy, but hopefully Amorim will be.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree its a great ppportunity for any manager. But United cant afford to fail again. So thwre has to be no gambles here. United need to hire a tried and tested candidate in a major League. No facking about now. Its now last chance saloon for United to eventually get it right
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But there's no guarantee that a 'tried and tested' candidate from a major league would be successful here? Any new manager will be a gamble, regardless of what they have done previously.
I don't feel it's last chance saloon - it never is to be honest. All we can do is appoint someone and hope he works out. I like appointing someone who is proving themselves at a lower level and giving them a chance to prove it at the very top - very few make it, and we can only hope we have picked the right guy.

Dont know anything about the guy at all.
All I want is some excitement, when I’m at OT these days I’m mostly bored looking at the clock to see when is the best time to leave to beat the traffic out of the car park, it’s just dull slow dreary painful football played by players with miserable faces, it’s not entertainment at all.
I have got so used to it now it doesn’t even bother me when we lose, under Fergie I would be in a mood for days on end if we lost, I want that feeling back,I want to really care about the club and our performances and be proud of the club again.
As I say I know nothing about this guy but I just pray he can put just a bit of excitement and magic back into OT.

I don't think there is a template for being successful in the EPL - very few really manage it, most will be below the highest level but still be good managers. I do feel that certain managers just fit in well at certain clubs, but you don't really know that until you are at that club.
No doubt, and hopefully, ETH will find the right club for him, but it could be he's not made out for a very big club, we won't know until it happens.
But who would you choose then?

I wouldn't be surprised to see ETH rock up at Bayern when they get fed up of Kompany.

You could imagine ETH doing well there if it came to that. Hindsight is wonderful, but ETH just didn't fit in here - you don't know that until someone is in place, but that's how it worked out
I think there would be less 'noise' around a club like Bayern, which would suit him better.
It could be that he is better at a slightly smaller club and that general atmosphere - not everyone is cut out for the big jobs.

In many ways it's quite an easy job. The fans are pretty patient and as long as the team tries to play some exciting football and gives 100% then we're going to be happy. Well, in the short term at least because expectations are so low at present.
The manager can't pander to low expectations though IMO. They need to aim for the stars and make the players believe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You know what really kills me, is the fact the expectations have fallen so low. Just want to see some decent football and scoring some goals on a regular basis. A club like ours should be minimum top 4, ideally challenging for the title, and getting to the latter stages of CL.
But we'll get back to that..................one day

Yes. That's really bad. 'Only' Top 4 would have been disappointing a decade or so ago!
