If fans needed more convincing, today was another example of why our defensive manager isn't going to win us the major honours
We are built and designed on defence. All 85% of his signings at arsenal have been defensive ones whether in defence, MF or goalkeepers.
The style of football is awful to watch, relying heavily on set pieces for goals now.
Also, to keep havertz as our main striker was another absolute comical decision by the board and the manager
There is no attacking style or pattern to how we might even get a facking shot on target.
Top 4 should now be the target and trying to somehow get silverware in the carabao cup
Defensive approach not going to win majors

Sometimes being pragmatic is the right approach, sometimes it's not. Sometimes the players you have available forces your hand.

Let's face it without Odegaard and Saka playing every single game we are not going to win the league. We just don't have the players to replace them. Also we can definantly upgrade the left winger position.

Yeah today's performance was down to risks we took in the market in the summer which have all blown up in our face. I dunno if they were Artetas calls or from further above with the intention of balancing the books but with hindsight we got it all wrong.

This is very true
You remind me of Spurs under Poch, as soon as Eriksen was unavailable Kane would drop back to the half way line and try and play creator which then led to no one up top sticking chances away. We never ever bought cover for Eriksen and it massively hurt us.

Arteta and Arsenal had an unbelievable 2 years with Injuries. Saliba wasn’t only important player they lost that first season for an extended period and it cost them the title. Last year their injury situation was incredible, no important player being injured all year for a sustained period.
It’s finally caught up with them and started to even out a bit - they do not have cover anywhere near good enough for Odour guard.
Add in the league finally clamping down on Arsenals dark arts and suddenly they look average again.
Could start getting tough for Arteta as Arsenal are a poor watch, which he could get away with whilst results were good, but when you lose as well, the hiding places start to disappear.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Partey missed most of last season, Timber missed all of it to say we didn't have any injuries is just revisionism. This nonsense about dark arts when other teams do it it's clever when Arsenal do it then it shouldn't be allowed. The squad isn't good enough and that's on Arteta are we going to win the league probably not but a 2nd or 3rd place finish would be acceptable with a trophy which is still possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I said “important” player - Timber does not count for 2 reasons, the first was that he had barely played for you before getting injured and second he wasn’t displacing Saliba or Gabriel anyway - would be like me complaining about Dragusin getting an injury even though Romero and VDV are our first choice.
Partey - well let’s not go there. What I will say is that is one area of the pitch where Arsenal were and still are well covered.
Whether you like it or not, the authorities have clearly cracked down on some of the things Arsenal were previously getting away with, which is why your red cards have spiked this season.

"he wasn’t displacing Saliba or Gabriel anyway"
Correct, because he's a fullback
He would absolutely have been in our starting XI - he got injured starting the first game of the PL against Villa Easily our best LB and RB too despite White being good overall.

No different to anything other teams do, in fact others do a lot worse but different rulebook for us as always and the refs and media of course try and make a big thing out of it, again, because it's Arsenal.
If you cared about neutrality and fairness you'd take a step back and see it for what it is, corruption. But no, pile on to the lying narrative and fake largely predetermined sport Premier League football has become in this country. Just entertainment now and Arsenal have been the pantomime villain for decades.
