Coventry City 1 -2 Derby County

COVENTRY CITY v DERBY COUNTY Championship #14

Wednesday 6th November 2024, 1945, The Coventry Building Society Arena, Coventry

Oh dear, one Saturday away from the match and see what happens. By all accounts a dismal, disjointed, lacklustre, perplexing, frustrating and poor display against opposition who were not really any great shakes.

I only saw the highlights and I was also concerned. However the vitrolic directed towardthe manager and players on variou media were an indication that some people were not happy.

I would be nice to get a first away win on Wednesday - I think we are ticking along quite nicely and mid-table does seem to be our default position. Resilence and fight were our by-words - now I'm not so sure.

An injury list which is so massive that I cannot name them all - Ozoh, Rooney, Wilson......the list goes on......

Something needs to improve - It's 49 miles to Coventry, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.......Hit it.

I wanna be the one to do GGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOO etc duty but its been so long I have forgotten how to do it.....

Team: Zetterstrรถm (GK), Nelson, Phillips, Cashin (C), Elder, Adams, Thompson, Goudmijn, Jackson, Yates, Brown.

Subs: Vickers (GK), Ward, Wilson, Forsyth, Bradley, Harness, Barkhuizen, Mendez-Laing, Collins.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANG ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ

Did anyone notice how having two up top restricted Coventry's options to break into our half, certainly in the first-half at least.

We've got Mark Robins sacked then! Bit harsh...

Never underestimate the stupidity of a football chairman.

Apparently, Warne is now the longest serving manager in the Championship.

Both the sacking and that fact show the madness of football chairmen.

I don't know if that was necessarily the reason Scouse. In general we allowed their centre half to walk unchallenged with the ball to close to the halfway line. The tactic was clearly to compress the available space and restrict options. It worked pretty well in the first half and we nicked the ball off them a few times. As the second half wore on we allowed them to come further and further into our half. We were tiring so they were fining pockets of space but our shape stayed good. I thought Cov stayed patient and on another day our second would not have gone in and they might even have come back to Nick the win. Very harsh on Robins.

Hmmmm....I wondered that too...

Fozzy’s challenge inside the 6-yard box that denied Cov an equaliser escaped my attention at the time. It was down the far end so all we saw was a chaos of legs and then the ball being cleared. Seeing the footage it was an astonishing intervention. Quite sensational.

Hopefully we'll see it more often and then someone will feel the need to explain it ...
