When is Ange gonna do something about our away form, we have absolutely no clue what to do when home sides are on top in the game
Leicester
Newcastle
Brighton
Palace
Galatasaray
All of those we wilted in the face of pressure from the home side.
We won’t get anywhere unless we address this
So weak

Away form is poor but tonight was unlikely to be the time we were going to buck that trend. Next away game isn't either but I'm hoping Ange is going to go full strength against City and we give it a good go. If we lose, there'd be no point talking about the away form, unless it's some ridiculous result. However after that it's Bournemouth, Saints and Forest away so we definitely should be halting the away form then.

"meaningless"
Jesus, do fans really think this.
Irrespective of anyone's views of the importance of the game, the performance was worrying. Then again, most away games we play have the same result. Even with a strongest 11.

It’s meaningless because we have lost the game and the ramifications are ……………….
Faaaack all, we have 4 games left to secure the 1 point we need to guarantee progression. Earn 7 points and statistically we are extremely likely to finish top 8 and be seeded.
The performance was poor because we put a mix and match team out and probably did no tactical training on Galatasaray, saving it for Ipswich instead.
I asked on the other thread, if we’re top 4 come Sunday evening, league cup Quarters, all but guaranteed Europa KO’s - what are people going to find to complain about?

Only Palace with the first Xi was poor. The rest of the performances with the best players have been mainly dominating without getting the results. Even at Brighton they played them off the park for 45 minutes, just had a silly 20 minutes. Should have comfortably won at both Leicester and Newcastle, won at United. So away from is not that bad. Just not picking the points up their performances deserve in the main.

So we still need a point to progress and yet this game was meaningless? Nothing is guaranteed in football. All that's happened is we need to go stronger in the other games left so we've just shifted the problem on.
No guarantees of course but id say you give yourself the best chance possible to qualify as quickly as possible

Don’t understand anyone who is upset by tonight. You want to go far in competitions - sometimes you have to rotate. That was the very best game we could rotate in - there was faaack all at stake.
We have to do the job against Ipswich now though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh completely meaningless match tonight. Cannot believe the meltdown of some of our supporters. They really are a funny bunch. Expect Spurs B team to go to a CL regular and win 6-0.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is not meaningless as we are not through. Rangers will be up for it, Roma had a poor start to the season but a reasonable side, hoffenheim away is reasonable and then elfsborg we should win.
If we go into the playoffs extra games will stretch the squad in February.

Spurs were always having to go strong against Roma and Rangers irrespective of last night's match. Galatasaray away was Spurs toughest fixture, so even at full strength may still have lost. Never going to win every group game, but Spurs are still in a pretty strong position in the group.

Two extra games will make zero difference. But I doubt they will have to play them anyway, as I expect Spurs comfortably to get top eight.

If Ange had put the A team out last night and Deki & Solanke end up injured.....some of these same genius posters would be putting up threads saying WTF were was he doing in this low stakes game?
Haters hate .

You say that these 2 games don't make any difference, but that's rubbish! If we end up in that extra ko stage then our fixtures look like this:
Man Utd (h)
Europa 1st leg(h)
Ipswich(a)
Europa 2nd leg (a)
Man City (h)
Now an extr ko round is exactly that - a knock out. We cannot risk weak line-ups in the kos, so our top players are playing all these games.
What do you think give us a better chance vs Utd, Ipswich & City. A week of prep for each, or a mid week Europa game, possibly in some far off arrrse end of Europe?
It's a no brainer and absolutely vital we don't end up in that extra round. That said, last night's performance doesnt massively impact given the games we have left.
