Mr Hoddle

As much as I appreciate what a great player he was for us, his commentary really gets on my tit5. He is the KIng of the Bleedin' Obvious and I really wish he'd give up this TNT gig. Obvs not quite as bad as that really high-pitched woman on MOTD but pretty annoying nonetheless.

Or is it just me...?

Ange and plenty of our previous managers have said, you can’t just turn winning mentality on and off. It doesn’t work like that. It’s either there or it isn’t
When it’s there, the team perform likes it’s an important game every game.
Those saying “ah it’s ok, we can lose and still qualify” are the real problem with this club.
Losing should really hurt no matter the circumstance. Especially how we played last night.
When defeats like that really hurt the team, then we will get somewhere. Until then, it will be mediocrity

Loosing hurts but fans should get real. We are practically playing every few days and have several out injured with games coming thick and fast. Yesterday was a makeshift back four with several youngsters thrown in to boot in a hostile environment.
Anyone who follows Spurs should already know our second string is just not good enough. Just look at City , they have a better squad than us and with a few missing have struggled and lost 3 in a row. It happens even to the so called best manager and team in the world.

If anything our recruitment needs to be better. When other teams play their second string they might not play as well but I cant recollect any team as bad as we were yesterday.
Couldn't even do the basics. The inability to properly master the ball is what personally hurt me more than the result as I seen it time and time again over the years.

If that was the first team starting last night then you may have a point. But the team that started most definitely won't be starting against Ipswich. If everyone was fit, probably only Porro would be a nailed on starter. Maddison and even Son cannot be considered as first picks with a fully fit squad to pick from.

Our recruitment is good and progress is being made for sure. We still need some better back up in a few positions but we were never going to have an A-grade squad within 2 windows of Ange coming in, considering where we were coming from.

I agree with this and take comfort from the fact that Ange is pretty uncompromising so he wont be saying " oh bad luck lads, it was a dead rubber anyway" he'll be saying WTF was that performance and some players will lose his trust if they fail to their maintain levels in games like that.

I think recruitment has been better but if you consider the players we have let go and many we have loaned out as deemed not good enough then we need to do better.

Let’s address the elephant in the room - Enic will never give any manager the tools to be a winning squad. Because when you’re in multiple competitions you need strength in depth and they won’t get winners in the first team let alone rotation players.
This cycle of decent first XI and then when rotation happens we are craap, we’ve all seen before. It never changes until we invest in a proper squad and not have to rely on kids, and players like Forster, Werner, Davies etc etc in European games and cup games. It’s the reason we’ve only won 1 trophy in 21 years and none in 17. Can cobble together a decent first XI to qualify for top 4, but that’s about it

As I said on the match thread yesterday I think son is a busted flush, I know he is coming back from an injury and he has the odd moment of good play but he gives the ball away too many times in a match now, he has always been a patchy player, think January we really need to look for his replacement, ps I hope I am wrong because when he is on his game I love him

We just beat City with a pretty big shake up to team selection and with an average age of 23.

We won our other 3 Europa league games with the same bunch of kids and fringe players.

Last night game had more changes enforced on us by injuries than it otherwise would.

You cannot point to the one game we lost out of 5 cup matches, when we have rotated heavily and whine that ENIC has sold the manager short.

Yes, there is a need to improve quality and depth but this cannot be done all at once. If you want top grade replacements for Werner, Davies and Forster, then you need to pen a cheque for the best part of another £120-150m.

The likes of Davies, Forster, Werner will move on but right now we need them. We have kept them because to replace them properly would cost a fortune, but that time will come and probably next summer.

Opportunities given to Moore, Lankshear, Gray...fantastic! except for some fans who find it to be a reason to bash the club again.

Every single commentator on TNT is woeful. Somebody complained earlier about having Robbie Savage on their match, the irony is he is probably the least annoying of all the commentators they have to pick from, and yes, I am aware I am talking about Robbie Savage.

Thankfully between Premier Sport and Amazon Prime, I’ve barely had to use TNT at all this season for European football
