International break

With the introduction of the pointless Nations League tournament, the number of disruptions to league football have increased. I’ve always been an advocate of international breaks for the good of our national teams but maybe I’m just getting old and long in the tooth because I now think these teams are just a hindrance to serious football competitions (ie league). Who can blame club managers for holding back players under pretence of injury - when the stakes are so high. Perhaps more significantly, knowing that the chances of any of our home teams coming away with a trophy are next to nil increases the feeling of pointlessness. As I speak, I’m watching a hopeless England struggle to assert themselves over Greece, which seems to reinforce my point.

Club footy is a bit commercial and shiiit these days. I’m all for international breaks, far less polluted than the money hungry domestic leagues

I watched the game last night, and really enjoyed it, Englands young guys looked very good against a very good Greek team, so credit where its due to both teams and both managers .

5 stars from me... utterly hate international breaks some of them, tbf like this one, you can justify a little, but the pointless game after only game week 3 in the premier league is just crazy..

lets continue with the season ffs.. did we not see enough England carve ups over the summer without having to see the same rubbish but in a completely pointless game?

I don't blame you for feeling this way given the state of the footy you watch your team play.

Only really applies to a small minority of clubs, your Man Cities, Spurs, Arsenals, Chelseas, Liverpools and Man Utd's the ones that have sold their souls to the devil.

The rest of us can only really aspire to be boring and soulless.

Ok, people see it that way, I went to games in the 70's when Clough bought the first million sqid player!..

And that's not true, because at the time they said million, but Clough paid 1 quid less because he didn't want to put to much presure on Trevor Francis!..

But, the state of football these days has crap all to do with the 70's, in them days I was to every Leeds home game and a lot away, thats when the English fans gave the Italian and Spanish football fault because they were giving the most money out!..

The crap theses days is the Premier League and the money they now earn!..

Somebody is now employed here there or wherever to think up a new tournement to rip the fans off a little more!..

And give the over paid players a little more to cry about!..
