We are a month away from the start of the Darts World Championship 2025, but we still have time for a televised ranking event. It starts on Friday, live on ITV4.
Luke Littler goes into the tournament on a high following his Grand Slam win. That was the third consecutive tournament where a player who started the competition outside the top 16 won. Mike de Decker and Ritchie Edhouse winning the European Championship and Grand Prix respectively.
The draw is based on rankings - using the Players Championship Order of Merit following the season events. This gives a unique set of seeding positions and it is Chris Dobey who is #1 seed.
Round 1 Review
A lot of big names have fallen already, but the two Lukes ease through.
Michael van Gerwen lost 6-1 to Ian White, while Gary Anderson was defeated 6-5 by Ryan Meikle. #1 seed Chris Dobey fell to Nathan Aspinall, while Gerwyn Price, Stephen Bunting, Gian Van Veen, Jonny Clayton, Peter Wright and Martin Lukeman are all OUT!
Round 2 review
Both Luke Humphries and Luke Littler won through. Humphries beat Barney 6-3 while Littler overcame Ritchie Edhouse 6-2.
Michael Smith and Dave Chisnall both fell at this point. Daryl Gurney beating Smith 6-4 and Andrew Gilding beating Chizzy 6-5.
Damon Heta won an 11 leg game over Ratajski, while Jermaine Wattimena whitewashed Josh Rock. A bit of a shock came early when Niels Zonneveld beat Nathan Aspinall.
Ross Smith, Martin Schindler, Mike de Decker and Danny Noppert all got through and will fancy their chances.
Round 3 Review
A comfortable win for Luke Littler, Danny Noppert seemed to give up quite early. Luke Humphries struggled a bit more against Damon Heta, but he too continues.
Ross Smith trounced a very under par Andrew Gilding 10-1. Smith has only dropped 3 legs so far!
Connor Scutt produced a solid performance to beat Gurney 10-3, while Dirk van Duijvenbode rolled back the years to smash Jermaine Wattimena 10-5. Scott Williams edged past Jeffrey de Graaf 10-8, while Mike de Decker looks good and easily despatched Niels Zonneveld 10-4. Ryan Joyce had a good 10-6 win over Martin Schindler.
Quarter Finals Preview
Mike de Decker had chances to knock Luke Littler out of the Grand Slam last week, and gets the chance to re-address the defeat today in the standout game of this round.
Ross Smith will look to continue his good form against Scott Williams. Williams got to the Worlds semi finals a year ago and will hope to repeat that in this PC. The winners of this meet the winners of Littler/de Decker in the semi.
In the other half, Luke Humphries has Ryan Joyce, while Connor Scutt meets DvDuijvenbode. in an intriguing clash. Joyce knows a win will put him inside the OoM top 32, an added bonus as this will mean he starts in round 2 rather than round 1. Also chasing a big OoM leap is Scutt, who will break the top 64 with a win. He has a guaranteed tour card for the next 2 years, but getting into the top 64 is key for his long term future.
