Vicario Out for Weeks

Vicario has had an operation on his ankle and this means Forster will be between the sticks for the rest of the year.
I thought Vic had just started to shine and on Saturday he was immense, hopefully he will make a full and speedy recovery.

Whilst I am on here, I need to highlight the contribution of another player. Solanke has been brilliant in the amount of work he gets through and sometimes this goes under the radar. I think he is a top signing and a valuable member of the team.👍

It's things like this when criticism of ENIC is justified.

Squad is always light on proper quality in every position.

If the new investment allows us to pay more in wages, please do it ASAP.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So you think it was ENIC insisting we don't get a new keeper?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

No

But I know very well that they will always for for cheaper options or hope they can get by somehow.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm pretty sure it will be the football group (Lange, Ange etc) sitting down and deciding their priorities on the budgets they have, and we have spent about net £90-100m so a big chunk.

#Tottenham will accelerate plans to sign another goalkeeper after Guglielmo Vicario’s ankle injury, which is expected to keep the Italian out until well into the new year.

Tottenham’s preference is to bring forward plans to sign a long-term goalkeeper to provide genuine competition for Vicario, but signing a more established goalkeeper could be difficult mid-season, and if that proves to be the case, Spurs could be made to look at more of a stop-gap signing.

Is Forster really that bad ? I don’t mind him as back up

Not quite sure who we would get as a backup to sit and be happy ?

We aren’t city and pay people mega money to sit in a bench …..arsenal had to give up their 2nd good option cos good keepers don’t play 2nd fiddle

I’m all for slaughtering Enic but this is not on them…..back up keepers are a problem for most if not nearly all teams

I always think reserve keeper is a tough gig. Sit there for weeks and months and then suddenly thrown into highly competitive games.

Often see a few rusty performances first but they they get in their groove. The Liverpool keeper is looking very good now after a run in the team.

Its up to the manager to ensure that that doesn't happen. You don't see this very much, I admit, but a manager who cares can sub GKs late in the game. However that does mean less out-field subs which is why it ain't done much.

The goalkeeper is such a crucial position in this system. Even I’m surprised we didn’t sign a better back up.

That first pass is what bypasses the opposition press and allows the space for the inverted fullbacks to overload the opposition midfield and find space for the forwards.

Foster simply cannot do this.

If Ange doesn’t drastically change his approach to suit foster, I think some of you are in for a nasty surprise.

I hope we’re still challenging for something by the time vic comes back.

No. Werner has his pluses & minuses.
Plus side; very fast. Fast enough to blow past Kyle Walker and put a picture perfect pass in for BJ's tap in.
Minus side: can't shoot worth a damn.

Why does our manager keep putting Werner in for the last ten minutes?
Because of his Pluses!
